CORRECTION / CLARIFICATION
The April 3 , 2024 , edition of The Hammonton Gazette story “ Commission hears soccer field concerns ,” detailed comments given by Sharon Quigley . The article reported that Quigley and her husband were providing materials to complete the project but were not releasing the items due to concerns over the access to the facilities at the October event , ( the first home game for St . Joseph Academy ).
For clarification , the materials discussed in the article were recent resources the couple purchased to finish the project . Prior to this meeting , Quigley and her husband had already donated materials and labor including completion of plumbing work , which entailed sewer line installation from the manhole to the building , roughed in water and drainage in the walls for four toilets , four lavatory sinks , urinals , water heaters , hose bibs and fixed underground work to bring the project to code . The couple has given an estimated upwards of
$ 20,000 of materials and services to HYSA .
In a discussion with The Gazette after the article was published , Quigley explained that as far as releasing further items , she and her husband had put a pause on continuing with their donations until they could receive satisfactory clarification as to weather or not HYSA participants would be denied access to the restrooms if there are duel events going on at the park , as detailed in an incident reported in the article from April .
While it was suggested that representatives from HYSA and St . Joseph Academy meet and discuss the event , what happened and how things would be handled going forward , that meeting while expected has not occurred as of yet , leaving Quigley ’ s question unanswered .
Note : The Quigleys were not under any contract with the town or any other organization to take on or complete the job . The donations were provided by the couple as a gift to HYSA .
