George R. Campanella Sr.
George R. Campanella Sr., 76, of Hammonton died peacefully at
home with his family by his side on Saturday, April 6, 2019.
Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident there. Campanella
was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 825. He was
a longtime member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society, where he
served 23 years as President and currently serves on their Board of Di-
rectors. Campanella was an avid hunter and he is a member of Inskip
Antlers Gun Club, and the Italian Heritage Foundation. He served for
six years with the National Guard. He enjoyed winemaking, golfing, and
working on and collecting classic cars. His greatest joy was spending
time with his family, especially Sunday dinners.
He is predeceased by his parents, Stutz and Charlotte Campanella; his granddaughter,
Amanda; his son-in-law, Ed Riley and his brothers William and Joseph Campanella. He
is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Campanella (nee Jacobs); three children, George
R. Campanella Jr., Anna Marie Castellani and Theresa Williamson (Al) all of Hammonton;
six grandchildren, Eddie, Lily, Sophia, Holly, Danielle and Willie Boy; two great-grand-
children, Janeau Rose and Jacob Edward; one sister, Leah Gregori and his brother-in-law,
Anthony Jacobs.
Viewings will be held today, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thurs-
day, April 11, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - Church of
St. Anthony of Padua, 285 Route 206 in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery,
124 S. First Road in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to
the Hammonton Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1066, Hammonton, NJ 08037.

Joseph W. Berenato
Joseph W. Berenato, 96, of Hammonton died with his family at his
side on March 31, 2019 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Atlantic City.
He was born, raised and a lifelong resident of Hammonton. Berenato
started working with his brother in their record shop in Philadelphia. He
later went to work for Canuso Construction, then Rubba Furniture in-
stalling carpet. He worked at the Atlantic City race Course in ticket sales.
Berenato finished his career as a friendly and diligent self-employed in-
staller, retiring in 2008. He served in the U.S. Army during World War
II in Italy, Germany and France. He was a member of the Hammonton
V.F.W. Passalaqua Post # 1026 and a Charter member of Never There
Gunning Club.
Berenato is predeceased by his wife, Mary A. (nee Camarata); his parents, Dominic and
Julia Berenato; brother, Charles Berenato and sister, Catherine Cushinotto. He is survived
by his children, Joseph Berenato and his wife Nancy, Dennis and his wife Debbie both of
Hammonton and Donna Butterhof and her husband Albert of Egg Harbor; his brother,
Domenic Berenato and his wife Vee of Hammonton and sister-in-law, Frances Graff of
Mays Landing. He was the loving grandfather of Kim McConville; David and Jeff Butter-
hof; Joey, A.J., Denny and Mikey Berenato; Danielle Lind and Chad DeCicco; and great-
grandfather of Ryan, Kyle, Carlene, Ethan, Hailey, Andrew, Charlene, Joseph, McKenna,
M.J. and Anthony.
A viewing was held Thursday, April 4 at the Marinella Funeral Home in Hammonton.
A second viewing was held Friday, April 5 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish – St. Joseph
Church in Hammonton, where a Mass of Christian was also held Friday. Burial took place
in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 124 S. First Rd., Hammonton.

Mary Morganweck
Mary Morganweck (nee Brigandi), 80, of Hammonton died suddenly
at her home on Wednesday April 3, 2019.
Born in Hammonton, she graduated from Hammonton High School
in 1956 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Glassboro State
College in 1960. Morganweck taught Kindergarten at the Folsom Ele-
mentary School for more than 39 years and received the “Teacher of the
Year” award for 1985-1986.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Morganweck; parents,
Matteo and Rose Brigandi and sister, Carol A. Olive. Morganweck is
survived by her children, Louis Morganweck of Hammonton and Bar-
bara Zuber and her husband Frank of Sicklerville; her sister, Rose Rita
LaRosa and her husband Joseph and brother-in-law Angelo “Sonny” Olive, both of Ham-
monton. She was the loving grandmother of Brian, Logan and Louis Zuber. She will be
missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and her furry friends “Flash & Willie.”
Viewings were held April 8 and April 9 at the Marinella Funeral Home in Hammonton.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 9 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish –
St. Joseph Church, Hammonton. Burial took place in Egg Harbor City Cemetery.

Frances “Fran” M. Gazzara
Frances “Fran” M. Gazzara, 81, of Hammonton died on Tuesday,
April 2, 2019 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City
with her loving family by her side.
Born in Hammonton, she was a lifelong resident there. Before retir-
ing, she worked as a slot attendant at Showboat Hotel & Casino in At-
lantic City. Fran was a longtime member of the Hammonton Rescue
Squad and its Ladies Auxiliary where she served as Secretary, and the
Hammonton Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation. She enjoyed playing
cards, bingo, camping, going to the casinos and vacationing in Florida;
but her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her loving
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Santora. She is survived by four
daughters, Debbie Gazzara-Berenato (Denny), Rhonda Smith (Glenn), Charlotte Gazzara
and Lori Kemmerer (Gary); her longtime companion, Donald Monteleone; nine grandchil-
dren, Danielle Lind (Mike), Chad DeCicco-Luongo (Larry), Lindsey Miller (Robert),
Tiffany Lind (Stephen), Herbie Storey Jr. (Macie), Hillary Storey (Drew Kolimaga), Hous-
ton Storey, Lexandra Kemmerer and Gianna Kemmerer; six great -grandchildren, McKenna
Lind, M.J. Lind, Robby Miller, Angelina Storey, Rockwell Miller and Harper Lind; two
brothers, John Santora (Joni) and Anthony Santora (Bonnie); her lifelong best friend, Myra
Gazzara; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held today, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third Street in Hammonton. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated today, Wednesday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel
Parish Church of St. Joseph’s, 226 French Street in Hammonton. Entombment will follow
at Greenmount Cemetery, 124 S. First Road in Hammonton. In lieu of flowers donations

Janet M. Gazzara
Janet M. Gazzara (nee Cowdright), 74, of Hammonton died on Sun-
day, March 31, 2019 in Lourdes Specialty Hospital.
Born in Camden, she was a lifelong area resident. Gazzara was a
medical records clerk at Kessler Memorial Hospital. She was a former
member of the Hammonton Vol. Rescue Squad and their Ladies Auxil-
iary. Gazzara enjoyed reading and collecting bells.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Cowdright and Judy Cow-
dright. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Gazzara, Sr.; her three
children and their spouses, Joseph A. and Ruth Gazzara, Jr., of Florida,
Rose and Dave DiMartino of California and Angelo H. and Carolyn Gaz-
zara of Hammonton; one brother, Robert Cowdright and his wife Barbara
and seven grandchildren, Heather (Rob), Justin, David (Logan), Shelby, Heidi, Angelo, Jr.
and Courtney.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Carnesale Funeral Home,
202 S. Third St., Hammonton, where a viewing was also held. Burial followed in Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery.

Dwight Orin Thompson
Dwight Orin Thompson, 79, died on March 31, 2019.
Raised in Laings, Ohio, Thompson lived in Hammonton for 50 years. He was a teacher
and coach at Shawnee High School in the Lenape School District for 31 years and also
taught Driver’s Ed. After his retirement in 1998, he drove charter tours for Motor Coach
Industries. He was a member of Pitman Road Church of Christ and the longest serving
elder, serving 25 years.
Thompson is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marie and his sister, LaVonne Ran-
som. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lea (nee Northcut); children, Todd (Jean-
nie) Dwight Thompson and Jana Lea (Ronnie) Ritchie; eight grandchildren and his sister,
Ramona (Ken) Noland.
Friends greeted the family on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 at the Pitman Road
Church of Christ in Sewell. A funeral service was also held Saturday. Those desiring may
make contributions to the Pitman Road Church of Christ, 500 Pitman Rd, Sewell, NJ 08080
and Harding University, 915 E. Market Ave., Searcy, AR 72149.

rique Torres and Manuela Maldonado.
She is survived by her loving husband of
58 years, Israel Collazo; three sons, Jose
Collazo of Newtonville, Alfredo Collazo
of Vineland and Luis Collazo and his
wife Madeline of Easton, Pa.; one
brother, Luis Torres of Florida and two
sisters, Virginia Miranda of New York,
N.Y. and Angelica Miranda of Kissim-
mee, Fla. She was the loving grand-
mother of five and had two
great-grandchildren.
