Early Childhood Education students were asked “ where do they love to go in Hammonton ?” Warren E . Sooy Jr . Elementary School students were asked , “ what do they love to do in Hammonton ?” and middle school students were asked , “ what do they love about Hammonton ?” and “ what would they change if they could ?”
“ Through their drawings , posters
and written responses we have gathered a great deal about what matters to the children of Hammonton . You may have seen their work on display in the window of our Hammonton Heart & Soul headquarters at 16 Central Avenue and in various businesses throughout the community ,” Johnson said .
Forty-five students were awarded $ 10 gift cards to local businesses for their work . Fortyfour National Honor Society high school students conducted three to four interviews with their friends and families asking questions like , “ what matters to our community ?” and “ what changes they would like to see ?”
“ These students received volunteer appreciation certificates for their contributions ,” Johnson said .
During the meeting , board member Barbara Berenato gave the safety committee report . She talked about Finance Item No . 20 on the agenda , “ Approve a contract with

When it was time to vote for matters concerning finance , the board most notably voted to :
• Accept the 2020-2021 CAFR and Auditor ’ s Management Report as presented . There are no findings and recommendations on the Corrective Action Plan .
• Approve a school district budget for the FY 2022-2023 School Year for submission to the county as follows : Total General Fund – Budget : $ 57,956,766 and Local Tax Levy : $ 18,320,722 ; Total Special Revenue Fund – Budget : $ 3,843,898 and Local Tax Levy : n / a ; Total Debt Service Fund – Budget : $ 2,061,156 and Local Tax Levy : $ 1,662,175 ; Totals – Budget : $ 63,861,820 and Local Tax Levy : $ 19,982,897 .
• Approve to include in the 2022-2023 Budget a Withdrawal from the Maintenance Reserve in accordance with NJAC 6A : 23A- 14.2 ( d ) in the amount $ 140,730 for required maintenance activities as reported in the comprehensive maintenance plan pursuant to NJAC 6A : 26A-4 .
• Ratify the purchase order lists for February 2022 in the amount of $ 445,470.96 .
• Approve the bill list for March 2022 in the amount of
$ 1,125,237.36 .
• Ratify the check lists for February and March 2022 in the amount of $ 1,762,571.34 .
• Ratify the February 2022 payroll in the amount of $ 3,639,616.05 .
• Approve to Establish Maximum Expenditures for Professional Services 2022-2023 . The Hammonton School District Board of Education set the following professional services , maximum annual expenditures for the 2022-2023 budget : Legal : $ 200,000 ; Audit : $ 30,000 ; Architect : $ 650,000 ; Medical Inspector : $ 50,000 ; OT / PT / Speech : $ 200,000 ; Beh ./ Educ . Consultant : $ 150,000 ; and Nursing : $ 200,000 . Kelly Donio recused her vote for item No . 12 .
• Approve the adoption of the New Jersey Tort Claim Act Form as required by Atlantic County and Cape May Counties Association of School Business Officials Joint Insurance Fund .
• Approve the submission of the Hammonton School District ’ s High School Turf Field project # 01-1960-050 , for both schematic and final approval . This is an “ Other ” project for which the district will not be seeking state funding .
