[For photos from the event, please see page 37.] the theme of this year’s “Lines on the Pines, aBC’s of the Pine Barrens” celebration was “adventures in Bog Construction” with “Bogman” Bill Smith. Smith was at the event exhibiting his carnivorous plant collections. the bog is located at Warren Grove, and the business venture started by Smith and Jason austin is called Jaws, Ltd. Smith, who used to work in Hammonton at adams, rehmann and Heggan (arH), said these types of events are a good median to promoting the preservation of the Pinelands region. “i think now after [Superstorm] Sandy, people have started to realize the value of wetlands and bogs are part of that. there is a lot of interest in that, plus preserving the Pinelands, which is a unique part of New Jersey’s heritage. this [event] adds to that and it gets kids interested. they are fascinated by carnivorous plants and catching insects. i enjoy doing it and i know half the people here from over the years, which are botanists or are involved in the Pine Barrens,” Smith said. artist and illustrator Nancy DiMeglio Septic, NJSL6077 • NJ HIC License #13VH01292800 Est. 1975 ~ DEP 03261 ~ Paul DiMeglio Inc. 1 (800) 427-4617 ~ 561-1007 ~ 561-3597 491 S.
