“St. Joe prepared me for business and life … I learned to be respectful, work hard and believe …
My father always taught me to
give back. I was following his
lead and teaching as well,”
Umosella, who received a standing ovation from the crowd in attendance, said.
Ordille said the gift would be
$1,000,000 during a four-year period. There are no specific plans
for the gift, though plans will be
made with Umosella, he said. According to Ordille, Umosella approached the school regarding the
donation about 10 days prior to
the press conference on March 21.
“We are going to meet with Jeff.
We now have something to look
forward to and plan. There’s nothing earmarked at this time … This
gift is going to allow us to continue to give a Catholic education
to all the families who have students who want to send their kids
to school here – we have been
here for 76 years, and we are
going to be here for 76 more,” Ordille said.
Ordille was visibly emotional as
he announced the donation.
“We had some discussion about
whether or not to announce this
donation during Holy Week. In
my mind this is a perfect time for
it. It is a blessing. It makes me
have faith in the man above, that
prayers can be answered,” Ordille
said.
Umosella’s son Joe is a sophomore at St. Joseph High School,
and he has three children in St.
Joseph Regional Elementary
School.
“I’m passionate about a few
things, and St. Joe is one of them.
Being a parent plays a part as
well,” Umosella said.
Representatives of Delaware
Valley University (DelVal), including Vice President for Enrollment Management Arthur Goon,
were present at the press conference as well. DelVal recently an-
