Francesco Pecora

Francesco Pecora , 81 , of Hammonton , died on Wednesday , March 15 , 2017 , at his residence .

Francesco was born in Rende Cosenza , Italy , and relocated to Hammonton in 1964 . He worked for several clothing shops and most recently was employed by WhiteHall Lab . He was a member of the Italian-American Club and enjoyed trips to the casinos . He loved his garden and making homemade wine .

Francesco was predeceased by his brother , Alfonso Vercillo and granddaughter , Regina Anne Pecora . He is survived by his wife , Anna of Hammonton ; his sons , Giancarlo and his wife , Kay of Simi Valley , Calif ., and Giulio and his wife , Doreen of Hillsborough ; his grandchildren , Darren Michael , Amanda Elizabeth and Brian James Francesco .

Family and friends attended a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday , March 20 at St . Mary of Mt Carmel Parish- St . Joseph Church , Third and French Streets , Hammonton . Entombment was in Greenmount Cemetery , Hammonton . Arrangements made by the Marinella Funeral Home .

George R . “ Bobby ” Sainson

George R . “ Bobby ” Sainson , 58 , of Hammonton , died on Thursday , March 16 , 2017 , at the Kresson View Center – LTC in Voorhees .

Born in Hammonton , he was a longtime resident . He last worked as a school bus driver for the Hammonton school district and previously worked as a tech at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton , an EMT at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford and also was a truck driver and worked as a mechanic for NJ Transit . He proudly served in the US Navy for 11 years .

He is survived by his two sons , Justin Sainson and Jonathon Sainson both of Fla .; a daughter , Ashley Sainson of Ga .; his longtime girlfriend , Joan Gregg with whom he resided within Hammonton ; two brothers , Joey Sainson of Chicago , Ill ., and Diesel Sainson of NJ .

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Life Celebration on Thursday , March 23 , 2017 , at 8 p . m . at the Landolfi Funeral Home , 237 Bellevue Ave ., Hammonton . A visitation will be from 7 – 8 p . m . prior to the service . Arrangements made by the Landolfi Funeral Home .

Eleanor ( Grasso ) Milazzo

Eleanor ( Grasso ) Milazzo , 95 , the Milazzo family from Hammonton and the Grasso family from Elm are saddened by the loss of Eleanor on Tuesday , March 14 , 2017 .

She was the seventh in a family of 11 children born to Ralph and Caroline ( Perna ) Grasso on March 24 , 1921 . She was born in a little house on Spring Road and later the family built a house next to Pastore Orchards , where her sister , Lillian , lives till this day . She was a dedicated member of the Hammonton Congregation of Jehovah ’ s Witnesses for many years .

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years , Anthony “ Lawyer ” Milazzo ; five brothers , Thomas , Salvatore “ Sam ,” Fred , Albert “ Tootsie ” and Ralph “ Junior ” and four sisters , Carmella Schiaffo , Florence Widemer , Marie Capelli and Adeline Carter . She is survived by one loving sister , Lillian Colasurdo ; two sons , Anthony ( Carol ) and Sam ( Joann ) of Hammonton ; four grandchildren , Charlene Curran , Brian Milazzo , Wendy Milazzo and Clementina “ Tina ” Togno ; 10 great-grandchildren , Brad Milazzo , Jason Milazzo , Nicole Guadagno , Sierra and Travis Harrell , Steven and Taylor Wooton , Devin Curran , Donnie and Gino Togno , and many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends .

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday , April 1 , 2017 , at 2 p . m . at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah ’ s Witnesses , 4747 White Horse Pike , Egg Harbor City , NJ .

In lieu of flowers , if desired , memorial contributions may be made to the Hammonton Congregation of Jehovah ’ s Witnesses , 4747 White Horse Pike , Egg Harbor City , NJ 08215 .

POLICE COrrECTION : Due to inaccurate information given to The Gazette by the Hammonton Police Department , the name of the man arrested after being caught with 50 bags of heroin in a report in the March 15 , 2017 edition of The Gazette was incorrect . Chief Robert Jones told The Gazette on March 16 that the correct name of the man arrested with the heroin was James Tell Jr ., not Joseph Tell Jr . as police told The Gazette .

Man found with 50 bags of heroin

OBITUarIES Charles H . “ Sonny ” Harper Jr .

Charles H . “ Sonny ” Harper Jr ., 79 , of Galloway Township , died on Saturday , March 18 , 2017 , at home .

Born in Camden , he was raised in Clementon then lived for many years in Sweetwater before moving to Galloway Township 18 years ago . He was the owner of CH Construction in Sweetwater . Currently , he was the supervisor of maintenance at Aloe Village in Galloway Township . He was a former member of the Mullica Township Zoning Board and the Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Department . He enjoyed wood carving and watching movies .

He is survived by his loving wife , Gloria Harper ; three children , Charles Harper ( Bernadette ) of Sweetwater , Mark Harper of Galloway Township and Kerry L . Harper-Wentzell ( Robert ) of Hammonton ; three sisters , Catherine McClaskey ( Charles ) of Elkton , Md ., Diane Thompson ( Robert ) of Elmer and GeorgeAnn Tutunjian of Toms River ; five grandchildren , Chad , Dana ( Anthony ), Jillian , Brody and Kassidy ; and four great-grandchildren , Gabrielle , Gianna , Anthony and Dominic .

A viewing will be held on Wednesday , March 22 , 2017 , from 9:30 a . m . – 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish Church of St . Joseph ’ s , 226 French Street in Hammonton , where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a . m . Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin .

Marian Grasso

Marian Grasso , 71 , of Hammonton , died on Wednesday , March 15 , 2017 .

Marian was born in San Diego , Calif ., and graduated from Oakcrest High School . Marian was a customer service specialist for Ocean City Bank for many years at the Hammonton branch and later retiring from the Mays Landing office . Marian ’ s greatest joy came from cooking and baking and sharing these times with her family .

She was predeceased by her parents , John and Frances May and her brother , Peter May . She is survived by her husband , Larry ; her children , Michael Grasso ( Joanna ), Lori Capaccio ( Ralph ) and Karen Grasso ; her siblings , John ( Janet ), Robert ( Brenda ), Mickey ( Yvonne ), Joseph ( Judy ), Richard ( Theresa ) and Kathy Brougher ( Tom ); her sister-in-law , Linda May ; her grandchildren , Ashlee McDermott ( Kyle ), Amylyn and Katie Capaccio , Billy , Alyssa and Kyle Grasso , Emily Wooton , AJ Mawson and Alia Grasso .

HAMMONTON — At 12:48 p . m . on March 12 , on the 900 block of the White Horse Pike ( Route 30 ), a vehicle stop was conducted by Class II Officer Gordon Ellis III , Hammonton Police Chief Robert Jones said .

The driver of the vehicle was James Tell Jr . of the 200 Block of E . Pleasant Street , Jones said .

There was a $ 300 warrant from Hammonton for his arrest , Jones said .

It was also discovered that Tell had 50 bags of heroin on his person , Jones said . He was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance ( cds ) heroin and released , Jones said .

HAMMONTON — Michael Baker , 37 , of Williamstown , was operating his vehicle when he was stopped for speeding at 10:11 p . m . on March 13 on 14th Street , Hammonton Police Lt . Kevin Friel said . Friel said Baker received a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended . Baker was found to have warrants from Evesham Twp ., Gloucester Twp . and Folsom totaling $ 2,023 , Friel said .

He was released on his own recognizance , Friel said .

Friel said Officer Jared Baglivo was the arresting officer .

Police make drug arrest

HAMMONTON — Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle behind a vacant residence at 8:31 p . m . on March 14 at the intersection of Basin and Union Roads .

Justin Iuliucci , 19 , of Hammonton , was found in the vehicle .

“ In speaking with Mr . Iuliucci in his vehicle , the strong odor of marijuana was detected . Mr . Iuliucci was found to have three hand-rolled cigarettes on his person containing green leafy vegetation ,” Friel said .

He was arrested , charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released on summons pending a court appearance , Friel said . Officer John Amendolia III was the arresting officer , Friel said .
