Antonietta La Mazza

Antonietta La Mazza ( nee Giacoppo ) passed away in Austin , Texas at the age of 89 yrs . and 11 months surrounded by family . Antonietta was a resident of a town she fiercely loved for 60 years , her new home , Hammonton . She came to live here with her husband Nino and her three children . She came to join her family in N . J . from Messina , Sicily Italy in 1966 . She was a devout catholic and had a deep devotion to Padre Pio , Antonietta was a parishioner of St . Joseph ’ s / Our Lady of Mt . Carmel Parish . She worked as a tailor / seamstress at William B Kessler , Ubia and Castelfor Clothing . Antonietta was a good worker and a friend to all she met . Always caring and giving of her time , opening her home to all her friends . She especially loved her family . A lovely , sweet , gentle soul that graced our lives . Full of energy , she loved to cook celebrating her Italian heritage . She loved all that was green , and it was reciprocated . Her plants were larger than most .
She is predeceased by her husband , Antonino La Mazza ; her parents , Caterina , and Antonino Giacoppo ; her in laws , Gaetano and Antonietta La Mazza ; Siblings , Caterina , Giuseppe , Santino , Placido ; son- in- law , Jerry Breitzman . She is survived by her children , Guy La Mazza ( Loretta ), Tina Breitzman , and Cathy La Mazza ( Marvin ); grandchildren , Melissa ( Brett ) and Anton John ( Kate ) Mike ; and great grandchildren , Jordan Jeri , Kristi , Marylin , Veda , and Jack . Sister-in- laws , Flavia La Mazza , Sarina La Mazza , Georgia La Mazza ; and brother-in-law , Cosmo La Mazza ; and many loving nieces and nephews .
We will always be grateful for her love and laughter which she gave to us . Antonietta knew how to tell and share stories . She was the life of our family parties . Her family now honors and celebrates her as she passes to her new life . Jonathon L . “ Jon ” Elston

Jonathon L . “ Jon ” Elston , 41 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away Sunday March 10 , 2024 . Jon was born in San Diego , Ca . and moved to New Jersey at a young age . He graduated from Paulsboro High School in 2001 and worked for Lawrow Electric and Plumbing for over 15 years and as an Electrician for DEC Electrical for the last five years . He enjoyed building BMX Bicycles and was a passionate Detroit Lions fan that also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles .
He is predeceased by his father , Michael T . Elston . Surviving are his wife , Nicole Elston ( nee Curreri ); his daughter , Regina Lynn ; mother , Roseann Smith ; mother in law , Geraldine Singletary ; brothers , Steven Karge , Zachary Smith and Josuha Elston ; and sister , Jessica Elston .

HPD responds to criminal mischief call

Sonny visited Animal Clinic of Hammonton earlier this month and stopped to pose for a photo in front of their St . Patrick ’ s Day display . Sonny belongs to the Mauriello family .
HAMMONTON — Hammonton Police responded to a criminal mischief call on March 9 at 9:29 p . m . at a commercial building located at the 400 block of South White Horse Pike in reference to an activated burglar alarm .
Upon arrival , officer Alexandra Mardell observed the front of the building and window on the right side of the building had broken , Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said .
A cell phone was located on the ground as well as two rocks by the front window .
A keyholder for the company responded and checked the surveillance footage of a nearby establishment where it was observed a white sedan pulling into the parking lot with its headlights off , a subject getting out of the vehicle , walking around before getting back into the vehicle and driving to the right side of the building .
Friel said the company had advised police that they just dismissed an employee identified as Eric Tharp , 48 , of Mullica Twp .
The vehicle Tharp operates was similar to the vehicle in the video .
Police responded to Tharp ’ s last known address , and while police were speaking with residents at his household , he pulled up into the driveway and admitted to damaging the windows at the commercial building , Friel said .
Tharp was placed under arrest for criminal mischief and transported to police headquarters for processing .
He was charged with the criminal mischief charge on a summons and was released pending court appearance in Atlantic County Superior Court .
Mardell was investigating and arresting officer .

Planning Board approves application for Mt . Carmel structure

Sassano said . “ The lean-to is not going to change the use or the number of people . This pad is where volunteers use during the festival and this is just going to cover it .”
After a brief recess to discuss the provided materials , the Mt . Carmel Society was approved for two C variances with one approval for an accessory structure .
After the approval of those variances , Stuart Wiser , the town ’ s planner , gave a presentation to the rest of the board entitled “ Planning 101 .” In this presentation , Wiser outlined all of the major responsibilities , rules and procedures faced by the Board . Included in the presentation was an overview of how applications are made , the responsibilities of the Planning Board relative to the revised Master Plan , and the differences between application types and variances .
The next meeting of the Joint Land Use Board will be March 12 to discuss the Master Plan only . The next regular meeting of the Joint Land Use Board will be March 20 .
