Samuel G . Mascioli

Samuel G . Mascioli , 89 , of Hammonton , died peacefully on Monday , february 26 , 2018 , with his loving family by his side .

Born in Hammonton , he was a lifelong resident there . Mr . Mascioli was a U . S . army Veteran of the Korean War , where he achieved the rank of sergeant . He worked as a printer for the Vineland times Journal and the Hammonton News . He also worked for many years in security for the atlantic County Human Services Center . He was a longtime faithful member of St . Martin DePorres r . C . Church in Hammonton , where he served as an usher . He was a longtime and active member of Our Lady of Mt . Carmel Society in Hammonton , where he served and for many years as treasurer and on the board of directors .

He was predeceased by his wife , Josephine Mascioli ; and his two brothers , rocco and Dominic . He is survived by two daughters , Kathy farinaccio ( Vincent ) and Carol Mascioli ( Jeffrey arnold ); one son , Sammy Mascioli ( Debbie ); six grandchildren , Jennifer Marshall ( Leroy ), alison Penna ( Justin ), Katie-Lynn Mascioli , Kelsey Mascioli , Samuel Mascioli Jr . and Solomon Mascioli ; and one great-granddaughter , Kaylee rae Penna . a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday , March 3 , 2018 , at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish Church of St . anthony of Padua , 285 route 206 in Hammonton . Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hammonton . in lieu of flowers , donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt . Brian A . Wetherbee

Brian a . Wetherbee , 37 , died on february 25 , 2018 , at atlantiCare Mainland Division in Galloway township .

He was born December 27 , 1980 , at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden . He graduated from Hammonton High School Class of 2000 . He worked as a Department Manager at the Walmart in Williamstown . Brian was a hard-working and dedicated employee . He was a very caring and compassionate individual to all of those he encountered .

Brian was predeceased by his grandparents , alex and Veronica r . Wetherbee , and anthony and elsie Scaffidi Sr .; his uncles , tim Wetherbee and robert Scaffidi ; aunt , Linda Bertino ; and cousin , Desiree Scaffidi . Berta i . eberhard , 97 , of Blue anchor , died on february 25 , 2018 , at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees .

Berta was born in Heutingheim , Germany . She was employed at Deer Park Baking for many years . Berta loved reading and writing and watching “ Jeopardy ” and “ Wheel of fortune .”

Berta was predeceased by her husband , Otto ; and her son , fred . James Byron Johnson

James Byron Johnson , 74 , of Nesco died on March 1 , 2018 at home .

Born in Hammonton he was a lifelong resident of the Hammonton and Nesco area . Mr . Johnson served in the U . S . air force for 16 years , achieving the rank of Master Sergeant . He was a self-employed master craftsman , who built many homes in the South Jersey area .

He was predeceased by his daughter , Precious Johnson ; his parents , John russell and Bessie Johnson ; two brothers , John russell Johnson and Pete Johnson ; and one sister , Laverda Snyder . He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years , eileen Johnson ; four step- children , Vincent DeLucca ( Michelle ), Deneen Wyld ( Steve ), Colleen roberts and Nicholas DeNote ; one brother , Harry Johnson ( anna ); two sisters , ruth DeNote and Bessie Doty ( Warren ) and five granddaughters . a memorial service was held on Sunday , March 4 at Batsto-Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church . in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Batsto Pleasant Mills Meeting House , 3559 Nesco road , Hammonton , NJ 08037 . arrangements made by the Carnesale funeral Home .

Joseph R . Caruso

Joseph r . Caruso , 72 , of Hammonton , died on february 24 , 2018 , and completing his last patrol .

Born and raised in Hammonton , he lived in Waterford twp . for several years before returning to Hammonton .

Joe was a graduate of Hammonton High School , class of 1964 , and he served in the army National Guard . He served as a police officer for the Waterford twp . Police Department and later the atlantic City Police Department before retiring with 25 years of service , where he was an accident investigator . He was a life member of the PBa Local # 24 in atlantic City .

Devoted father of Joseph Caruso Jr ., Heath Caruso ( Kimberly ), randy Caruso and the late Nicholas Caruso . Loving son of the late Matthew Sr . and anna Caruso . The Our Lady of Mt . Carmel Society hung a banner on its Mt . Carmel Lane building as well as crepe over its doors in memory of longtime member Samuel Mascioli who died on February 26 . Sunday , March 4 , 9:12 a . m .

said . friel reiterated what Chieco wrote in her letter regarding the situation .

“ as the school superintendent said , part of the school security working properly is the students coming forward with anything they see and hear that could be perceived as potentially dangerous ,” friel said .

Chieco ’ s letter , which was issued in both english and Spanish , read as follows :

“ today , february 27 , 2018 , our Middle School administrators addressed a situation where a student made disturbing statements regarding school safety . We involved law enforcement officials , and school and other professionals , and are taking steps specifically designed to protect all students now and in the future . Please be assured that at no time were students in actual danger . i want you to also be assured that the health , safety and welfare of our students is our number one priority . as an administration we well understand that students , parents , staff and community members are especially concerned given recent national events , which remind us that no community is immune from tragedy . We constantly evaluate our safety procedure and protocols , and continue to work with Law enforcement , the Department of education , and our school safety teams and professionals to take proactive steps to ensure our students continue to enjoy a safe and healthy learning environment . if you have any concern , please do not hesitate to contact a building principal or me in the Superintendent ’ s office . i also ask that you talk to your children and remind them that if they see or hear something to say something , and that we are here for all of them ,” Chieco ’ s letter said . Chieco ’ s letter references “ recent national events , which remind us that no community is immune from tragedy .” On february 14 , 2018 , 17 people were killed by a gunman at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland , fla .
