Anita DeVries

Anita DeVries ( nee Berenato ), 84 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away peacefully on Saturday , March 2 , 2024 with her loving family by her side . Anita was born and raised in Hammonton where she lived her whole life . She was a graduate of St . Joseph ’ s High School class of 1957 and then went on to work at Whitehall-Robbins until its closure .
Anita ’ s love for her family knew no bounds . Her door on Walnut Street was always open to her family and friends , as well as any one in need at any time . Anita had a passion for taking care of people and was happiest when her home was filled with family and friends . Her greatest joy was when her family were all together around the table enjoying the delicious meals she prepared . Her fondest memories are of the Our Lady of Mt . Carmel Festival where she volunteered at the food stands from a very young age and then continued to bring her grandchildren each year . She also loved “ taking a ride down the road ” to play the slots , traveling to Colorado to visit her nieces and to Florida to visit her family and friends .
She is predeceased by her sons , Norman W . DeVries and Christopher L . DeVries ; her sister , Josephine Vohl ; and her parents , Frank J . and Katherine ( nee Schipani ) Berenato . Anita is survived by her daughter , Denise Hendrickson ; and her sons , John DeVries and Frank DeVries . She is the loving grandmother of Patrick DeVries , Jason DeVries , Shana ( Michael ) Deininger , Michael DeVries , Amanda DeVries , Matthew Dreher , Michael Zucconi , and Alexis DeVries . She will be sadly missed by many great-grandchildren , especially Kaylyn and A . J ., along with many nieces , nephews and cousins .
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Thursday , March 7 , 2024 from 4 p . m . to 5:30 p . m . with funeral services to follow all at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N Third St . Mary Ann “ Mimi ” Mann Mary Ann “ Mimi ” Mann ( née Littlefield ), 78 , of Marlton , NJ , passed away peacefully on Saturday , March 2 , 2024 .

Mimi grew up in Hammonton , N . J ., with her parents , Lance and Grace , and her brothers , Allen and Charles (“ Chuck ”). She graduated from Hammonton High School ( Class of ‘ 63 ) and earned a BA in Spanish from Rider College ( Class of ‘ 67 )— now Rider University — where she was a member of the Sigma Iota Chi sorority . While attending Rider , she met Rutgers University student William (“ Bill ”) Mann of Palmyra , N . J . Mimi and Bill were married for 38 years at the time of Bill ’ s passing in 2006 . They had two sons , David and Stephen , whom they raised in Mount Laurel and Medford , N . J . Mimi worked as an executive assistant and retired from Subaru of America in 2005 . She resided in Legacy Oaks in Marlton for the past 16 years .
Mimi enjoyed vacationing with her family at the Jersey shore and , more recently , spending her winters in Naples , FL . She loved attending her grandchildren ’ s sporting events . Mimi often visited Steve and Vernon in Columbia , SC , and La Crosse , WI . In her retirement she played mahjong and went out to lunch with her neighborhood friends .
Mimi is predeceased by her husband , Bill Mann ; and her brother , Allen Littlefield . She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law , David and Christine Mann ; and their children , Alex , Andrew , and Evan of Medford , NJ ; her son and son-in-law Stephen Mann and Vernon Shaw of La Crosse , Wis .; her sister-in-law , Joyce Littlefield of Hammonton , N . J ; and her brother and sister-in-law , Chuck and Corinne Littlefield of Hamilton Square , N . J .
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday , March 6 , 2024 , from 9:30 a . m . to 11:30 a . m . at the Mathis Funeral Home , 58 N . Main St ., Medford , N . J . Lake program to receive $ 200K grant

The award is expected to be enough to finish the studies .
Mayor Stephen DiDonato stated that the majority of the funds are expected to go to the engineering study . Funds that remain will be used for construction costs . He said the intent is to give the park a facelift , including improvements to the walking trail , playground area and the buildings around the fields .

HPD , postal service investigate theft of mail

Later in the week , there was a DWI arrest on Feb . 29 at 9:27 p . m . at Peach and Packard Streets .
Officer Alexandra Mardell responded to a motor vehicle crash . Upon arrival , she observed the driver fleeing on foot from the scene and he was taken into custody , Friel said .

HAMMONTON — According to Hammonton Police , mail was allegedly removed from a mailbox outside of the Hammonton Post Office during President ’ s Day weekend .
Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said U . S . postal inspectors and the town of Hammonton are working and investigating checks that were taken from within the mailbox and sold to be used in fraudulent financial crimes . Many residents received a letter from the U . S . Postal Inspector ’ s office .
Friel said anyone who has received a letter or that has noted a discrepancy in the amount of a check that was issued by them should contact their local bank and then the Hammonton Police Department , ( 609 ) 567-4300 ext . 237 .
The Hammonton Police Department received a suspicious vehicle call on Feb . 27 at 4:17 a . m .
A resident called in reference to a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot of an office building in the 100 block of Blueberry Court , Friel said .
Upon arrival , Officer Matthew Heiser observed Jahzeel Plumey- Viruet , 40 , of Hammonton sleeping in the vehicle and was found to have an outstanding NCIC
