Boehly, 87, of Blue anchor, N.J., died on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital Washington, N.J. Bruce was born and raised in the Bargaintown, N.J. He went on to graduate from atlantic City High School in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. army and served as a Corporal in the Korean War. Bruce was a Fire Chief for ancora State Hospital where he worked from 1958 until he retired in 1990. Bruce was a former member of the Cedar Brook Fire Co. as well as the Winslow twp. Lions Club. Bruce is predeceased by his wife, Joan (nee Hackett); parents, Daniel and ada Boehly; two brothers, David and alfred Boehly and sister, ada Boehly. Surviving is his loving daughter, Cheryl Boehly and his grand- daughter, amy Boehly. He will be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. a viewing and services were held February 25 at the Marinella Funeral Home. Burial followed with Military Honors at Greenwood Cemetery, 316 Henry ave., Blue anchor, N.J. arrangements made by Marinella Funeral Home. Michael James Straus Michael James Straus, 59, of Vineland and formerly of Hammonton died on thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Philadelphia, and graduated from Hammonton High School in 1979. He enlisted in the U.S. air Force and served from 1979 to 1986. He went into his family business Mary’s Market in elwood with his parents, Harry and Mary Straus, and later created the Flower Shoppe at Mary’s which he ran for more than 25 years. With a love for children Michael became a Special education aide at Pinelands Learning Center in Vineland. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Mary (Hannan) Straus; brother, Harry J. Straus; brother-in-law, Howard F. Macri and niece, Bethany Macri. Sur- viving are his loving partner of more than 25 years, Jeffrey Panco; his brother, John Straus (Melody); sisters, Mary anne DeStefano (Charlie), teri Macri, trudy Straus (Doug), Susan Petrucelli (Jim) and Judy Friedley (David); his brother-in-law, John Panco and many loving nieces and nephews. a memorial service and celebration of Michael’s life will be announced at a later date. DWI arrest made by HPD by Gabe Donio G azette S taFF W rIter HaMMONtON—a police of- ficer who observed a suspicious vehicle made a driving while under the influence of alcohol (DWI) arrest at 11:32 p.m. on Feb- ruary 13 at the intersection of Or- chard Street and railroad avenue, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said. “Officer Kyle ambrozaitis ob- served a suspicious vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway on Orchard Street while on patrol. When speaking with the driver, Officer ambrozaitis could detect a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver’s breath and per- son,” Friel said. the driver was Juan Castenada- Castane, 29, of Hammonton, Friel said. Friel said Castenada-Castane was placed under arrest for driv- ing while under the influence (DWI) and was found to have a glass pipe containing a burnt residue believed to be marijuana and a $1 and $5 bill containing a white powdery residue believed to be heroin. He was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance heroin, possession of drug para- phernalia and motor vehicle sum- monses including the following: Driving while under the influence of alcohol (DWI); refusal to sub- mit to breath test; open container of alcohol; delaying traffic and improper parking, Friel said. Castenada-Castane was later re- leased when sober in accordance with John’s Law and pending a court appearance in Hammonton Joint Municipal Court, Friel said. Police encountered Destiny Fatcher, 22, of Hammonton who was found to have an active war- rant for $125 from Lindenwold and during a search incidental to her arrest, she was found to be in possession of a hypodermic sy- ringe, Friel said. Fatcher was transported to po- lice headquarters for processing, charged with possession of a hy- podermic needle and released on the warrant from Lindenwold with a new court date as well as released pending a court appear- ance in Hammonton Joint Munic- ipal Court for possession of the hypodermic needle. Officer Casey Hendrickson was the arresting officer, Friel said. In a separate warrant arrest that occurred at 12:52 p.m. on Febru- ary 20 near the intersection of 13th and Washington Streets, a subject was stopped for failure to maintain a lane, and the passenger was observed to be without a seat belt, Friel said. the driver of the vehicle was given a warning for the motor ve- hicle infraction, but the passenger of the vehicle, Nadine DelGuer- cio, 31, of Winslow twp., was found to have an active warrant from Camden, Friel said. She was transported to the atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of bail, Friel said. Det. David reustle was the ar- resting officer, Friel said.
