William R . Perna Sr . “ Ronnie ,” 82 , of Elm Winslow Twp ., N . J . passed away Monday , February 7 , 2022 at his residence .
Ronnie was born in Hammonton and lived in Elm . He was the manager of Scorpio ’ s Bar in Elwood and enjoyed making wooden wishing wells . Ronnie worked for Jersey Construction for 20 years before retiring .
He is predeceased by his parents , Anthony and Isabella ( nee Christopher ) Perna ; his son , Scott Perna ; and his brother Tony “ Jeep ” Perna . Ronnie is survived by his children , William R . Perna and his wife Christine , Rochelle Bruce , Mary Perna , Susan Perna and Jannie Quattrocchi ; his brothers , Milton “ Butch ” Perna and Bobby Perna ; and his sister , Evelyn . He is the loving grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 21 .
Relatives and friends attended his viewing on Saturday , February 12 , 2022 from noon to 1 p . m . at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N . Third St . Hammonton , NJ 08037 . Carole Ann Schreffler , 86 , of Folsom , N . J . passed away Saturday , February 5 , 2022 at her home .
Carole was born November 17 , 1935 at Cooper Hospital in Camden , N . J .
Carole is predeceased by her husband , Charles R . Schreffler and her son-in-law , Robert ( Jeffrey ) Horrocks and her grandchild , Michael Ayrer .
She also leaves behind her brother , Jerry Szczesniewski and her dearest friends , Arden Rossiter ( James ), Mia and Anahi Boone and Joe McFarland .
She is survived by her seven children , Cindy Norman ( Albert ), Charles Schreffler ( Valerie ), Carole Ann Erario ( Al ), Cheryl Trost , Christine Ayrer
( Kevin ), Cathleen Berenato ( Joseph ) and Crystal Horrocks .
Carole is also survived by her 15 grandchildren , Kelly Huntsinger ( Chuck ), Kristy Larew ( Scott ), Cherie Norman Guzman , Charity Southard ( James ), Charles Schreffler III , Cheyenne Doyle-Schreffler , Tamin Watkins ( Josh ), Alison Erario ( Micah ), William Erario , Charles Trost Jr ., Jeffrey Trost ( Rick ), Brandon Trost , Christopher Ayrer ( Amanda ), Ashley Merle ( Timothy ) and Cathleen Sanders ( Robert ).
In addition , she has 12 great-grandchildren , Lea and Jace Guzman ; Avery and Reese Larew ; Aly and Chalie Trost ; James , Paul and Elizabeth Southard ; Sean and Kaitlyn Ayrer ; and Violet Sanders . Anthony N . Chiumento Sr ., 91 , of Winslow Twp ., N . J . passed away Monday , February 7 , 2022 at his residence .
Anthony was born in Hammonton and was an Elm Winslow Twp . resident his whole life . He was the owner and operator of Elm Dress Mfg . Company . Anthony was a Charter Member of the Elm Vol . Fire Co . and served as the treasurer . He also served on the Winslow Twp . planning board .
He is predeceased by his parents , John and Margaret ( nee Terrilla ) Chiumento ; his daughter , Bernadette A . Chiumento ; brother , Carmen Chiumento ; and sister , Rita Matteo .
Anthony is survived by his loving wife , Lucy A . Chiumento ( nee Andronico ); his sons , Anthony N . Chiumento Jr . and his wife Barbara and John Chiumento . He is the loving grandfather of Christopher Zusin ( Cortney ) and Michael Chiumento ( Chris ); great-grandfather of Caden Zusin .

Theodore J . Whitmyer “ Ted ,” 78 , of Folsom , N . J . passed away peacefully Monday , February 7 , 2022 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side .
Ted was born in Hammonton and raised in Folsom , where he was the President and owner of Jersey Construction , Inc . which was established in 1971 . Ted was a member of the M . B . Taylor Masonic Lodge # 141 , the Order of Sons of Italy Giuseppe Garibaldi Lodge # 1658 in Hammonton and Antler Shack Gun Club .
He is predeceased by his parents , Theodore G . Whitmyer and Dorothy Whitmyer ( nee Priest ); his sister , Dorothy Farnath ; and brother-in-law , Herb Chiumento .
He is survived by his loving wife , Anna Marie Whitmyer ( nee Chiumento ); his daughter , Kristin Whitmyer and her husband Rory O ’ Connor ; grandson , Jet Thompson ; his sister , Arlene LeFevre ; sister-in-law , Diane Chiumento ; and nieces and nephews , Melissa Ciliberti , Ted Farnath , Justin and Josh LeFevre , Christine and Tony Todd , Daniel Chiumento and Denean Chiumento . Raymond D . Effinger , 74 , of Clayton died Sunday , February 6 , 2022 . Ray was a member of the U . S . Navy serving during Vietnam War . He worked for many years as a mechanic at Greentree Transmissions .
He is survived by three children , Tara Effinger , Shannon Mature and Raymond Effinger Jr .; his stepdaughter , Christina Jack ; his brother , Albert Effinger ; three sisters-in-law , Carol Effinger , MaryAnn Ferrigno and Karen Ferrigno ; nine grandchildren ; and his niece and nephews .

Vehicle hit
POLICE , from Page 1 struck a Hammonton patrol vehicle that was not following her at the time , Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said .
Friel explained what happened on February 7 during an interview with The Gazette on February 14 .
“ Chesilhurst [ Police ] was attempting to make a motor vehicle stop with the subject refusing to stop . The subject drove into our community on Route 30 [ White Horse Pike ] changing directions with U-turns several times . The subject then left Hammonton for Winslow Twp . and then completed a U-turn and collided with one of our marked police vehicles that had not been pursuing her ,” Friel said . Friel explained that the police vehicle that was struck head-on had not been pursuing the other vehicle .
“ Our vehicle was traveling that way with its overhead lights off because we had broken off pursuit . She turned around and hit our vehicle head-on , and continued traveling several hundred feet up the roadway until her vehicle was disabled ,” Friel said . The operator , Brishaia Brown , 27 , of Lansdowne , Pa . was taken into custody , Friel said . During the encounter , she had sideswiped a
