Sandra “ Sandi ” C . Tallon

Sandra “ Sandi ” C . ( Geraci ) tallon died January 31 , 2018 , in Maryland after a brief illness .

She was born in Philadelphia , Pa ., and moved to Cinnaminson , New Jersey , as a teenager . She lived most of her adult life in the Garden State . Her Jersey home highlighted her passion for gardens , pets and parties . Birds , pups , cats and a few hundred pond fish greeted an equally interesting guest list at her personal beach backyard . Despite rumors to the contrary , she actually did have tons of sand delivered to create a beach for her pool and surrounded it with botanicals and fish of every variety . regular road-trips to her beloved Deep Creek Lake in Western , Md ., anchored her passion for the water and fishing , eventually leading to her relocating to annapolis , Md ., and the Chesapeake Bay . She spent most of her professional life in the casino industry , where she hosted players on trips around the world . She was working full-time , enjoying dinners out and hosting regular overseas cruises until her diagnosis of a hyper-rare malignancy a few months ago .

Her true passions were family , fishing and feeding others . She loved to out-fish everyone else on the boat ( and usually did !). the bigger the fish and the harder the fight , the happier she was .

She was predeceased by her parents , anthony and angelina ( Piraino ) Geraci ; and her sister , Joann C . Prelle . She is survived by her sons , Paul Peditto ( Stephanie ) of annapolis , Md ., Darren Peditto of egg Harbor twp .; daughter , tonilyn Peditto ( Joseph ziccardi Jr .) of Hammonton ; grandchildren , zackary Mcferren of Voorhees , Nicholas Peditto of annapolis , Md ., and Kati Peditto ( eric May ) of Geneva , NY ; niece , Laura Prelle of Marlton ; and brother-in-law , al Prelle of Marlton . a Mass will be held in memory of Sandi at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish - St . Joseph ’ s Church , 226 french Street , Hammonton , NJ 08037 on Saturday , february 17 at 10:30 a . m .

Marie Dennis

Marie ( nee Baltuskions-Smith ) Dennis , 87 , of Hammonton , died peacefully at home on friday , february 9 , 2018 .

Born in Green Bank , she was a lifelong area resident . Mrs . Dennis was a loving , dedicated wife , mother and grandmother . She treasured time spent with her family . She always put others before herself . Mrs . Dennis enjoyed doing ceramics and making silk flower arrangements for her family and friends .

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years , everett Dennis Sr .; her son , everett Dennis Jr . and his wife , Colleen of Hammonton ; her two daughters , Linda McMenamin and her husband , Jim of Sicklerville , Diane Borda and her husband , Jim of Hammonton ; her sister , Dorothy Corbin of egg Harbor City ; her grandchildren , everett Dennis iii , Shaun McMenamin , Lindsey Mitros ( Larry ), James Borda , evan Smith ( Cori ) and James Smith ( emily ). a viewing will be held today , Wednesday , february 14 , 9 a . m . – 10 a . m ., at the Carnesale funeral Home , 202 S . third St ., Hammonton , NJ , where funeral services will be held today , Wednesday , 10 a . m . Ida M . Martilini ida M . ( nee Calabria ) Martilini , 95 , of Hammonton , died peacefully in her sleep on thursday , february 8 , 2018 , at Cardinal Village in Sewell .

Born in Hammonton , she was a lifelong Hammonton-folsom area resident . She formerly worked for Deer Park Baking Co ., in Hammonton . Mrs . Martilini enjoyed crocheting , baking and babysitting which she did her entire life .

She was predeceased by her husband , Joseph Martilini ; and her sonin-law , Butch ford . Mrs . Martilini is survived by her two daughters , ida S . Hill and her husband , Charlie of folsom , Joann ford of Hammonton ; her sister , Virginia ferrino , and sister-in-law , rebecca Calabria both of Hammonton ; her grandchildren , Kevin Warren ( Heather ), tara McShane ( Joseph ), Jason Hill ( amanda ), Kevin ford ( antonia ); her great-grandchildren , aidan , Vienna , Xander and addie .

Viewing will be held thursday , february 15 , 2018 , from 7 p . m . – 9 p . m . and on friday , february 16 , 2018 , from 10 a . m . – 11 a . m . at the Carnesale funeral Home , 202 S . third St ., Hammonton , where funeral services will be held friday at 11 a . m . Burial will follow in St . James Lutheran Cemetery , folsom .

Pepperoni bread contest March 22

HaMMONtON — the answer to the question “ Who makes the best pepperoni bread ?” as well as other breads will be found at inferrera ’ s Market at 6 p . m . on March 22 at The Hammonton Gazette ’ s inaugural Pepperoni Bread Contest , sponsored by inferrera ’ s Market .

“ there are very few parties in Hammonton that don ’ t have pepperoni bread on the menu . and everyone makes it different ,” Gazette editor-in-Chief Gina rullo said . Contestants in four categories will be competing for the prize of

top homemade bread in town : Pepperoni , sausage , beef and vegetable . all contestants must bring their bread to The Gazette at 14 tilton St . by 5 p . m . on March 22 . entrants must wrap their bread in aluminum foil and provide recipe information for publication . the judging will take place at inferrera ’ s Market , at 436 N . third St ., in “ the Heart of Hammonton ’ s Little italy .” a festive , party atmosphere with food , music , including live singing by John Morsa , and fun will accompany the judging , inferrera ’ s Market Owner Dorothy Orlandini said .

Luis Ortiz , 86 , of Hammonton , died on Wednesday , february 7 , 2018 .

Born in Puerto rico , he lived in Hammonton for more than 40 years . He formerly worked at Harrah ’ s Hotel and Casino as a cook . He was a member of Unite Here Local 54 in atlantic City .

Mr . Ortiz was predeceased by his wife , Juanita ; and his granddaughter , alexa . Mr . Ortiz is survived by his three children , Luis Manuel Ortiz ( Gigi Vargas ) of Vero Beach , fla ., Lisette roman ( richard ) of Galloway , Maritza Ortiz ( toby Collier ) of egg Harbor City ; six siblings , felipe Ortiz , Mariano Ortiz , Victor Ortiz , raymond Ortiz , Margarita Ortiz and Yolanda Ortiz ; 12 grandchildren , Luis , angie , Junior , Kaya , Oliver , Jovanni , Samantha , richard Jr ., Clarissa , tobi , Catobey and Jordan ; and one great-grandchild , rashaud . a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday , february 12 at St . Elda Musto

elda ( nee Uccerio ) Musto , 83 , of Hammonton , died peacefully on Saturday , february 10 , 2018 , with her son by her side . elda was born in fuma , Yugoslavia . She lived in Hammonton and worked for White Hall Labs in Hammonton for more than 30 years . elda served the italian speaking community with all their legal documents .

She was predeceased by her son , angelo J . Musto ; her parents ; and her sister , rina Chromich . She is survived by her dear husband , Luigi Musto ; loving son , Jerry r . “ i watch a lot of food competition shows , so this is something i ’ ve always wanted to do . food is so important to us so it means that much more being in our hometown . Pepperoni bread was the first thing i ever learned to make and it opened the doors for my love of cooking , so i ’ m so excited to try everyone ’ s yummy breads ,” Giannini said .

“ i never had pepperoni bread until i met Lindsey , and she made her family recipe . it was the best thing i ’ ve ever tasted , so i can ’ t wait to try all different kinds from Hammonton . i always look forward to eating pizza and italian in Hammonton when we visit , it ’ s an awesome food town ,” Poole said .

Orlandini said the feedback to The Gazette ’ s Pepperoni Bread Contest from customers and residents of Hammonton and far beyond its borders has been outstanding .

“ We ’ ve had a lot of feedback on the posts online and from the ad and the posters . a lot of people have come in and said they are going to do it or they know someone who is going to do it ,” inferrera said .

The Gazette is looking forward to receiving the breads from readers , customers of inferrera ’ s Market and residents of Hammonton and the surrounding area , rullo said .

“ this is the first year for the event . The Gazette Cookie Contest has being going strong for more than 10 years . We know The Gazette Pepperoni Bread Contest will be as successful and thank inferrera ’ s Market for their sponsorship . it should be a fun evening at inferrera ’ s , where the judging will be held ,” rullo said .

Giannini , an avid pepperoni bread maker , offered a couple of tips for contestants .
