dates.
“What we have right now is a single party, that one of the things the club needs to work
basically a single-party rule. We know a sin- on is making sure the town’s republicans are
gle-party rule doesn’t work. We know we voting for the local republican candidates.
“One of the municipalities that we really
need checks and balances; we’ve got to have
two parties who offset each other and keep count on as a republican stronghold is Hamit balanced. We don’t have that currently, it’s monton….there should be no reason in the
world why Hammonton first has all those
hurting us,” Hernandez said.
“i think the most important thing
this town needs and really desires is
balance. Like Otto said, six to one
rule.…it’s not democracy,” furgione
said.
atlantic County freeholder alex
Marino felt that the club’s choice of
candidates would resonate with the
people of the town.
“it’s about ideas, it’s about what
you can do for the town….i think
these are three incredible, incredible
candidates that the entire town of
Hammonton can get behind and support,” Marino said.
torrissi explained that the club
was not forming a new party; he said
it is a republican Club that is running a slate of candidates who will
have to win in the primary election
in order to be on the ballot for the
November election if the Hammonton regular republican Club announces candidates as well.
“So everybody understands, this
is not a new party, i know there’s
been some confusion. We are republicans, this is a republican
club….we’re putting up our slate in
June, June 3rd, if they run somebody
else against us we’re going to have
to win and be on the ticket in November,” torrissi said.
Hernandez reiterated that one of
the club’s main missions is to bring
strength and direction to the republican brand in town.
“We are here because we are republicans, because we are proud republicans and i think that the
republican brand, over the last few
years in Hammonton, has kind of
lost its place. republican and being
republican means something….a
