Although Zuber does not know the exact number , he estimates that the airport looks at about three or four planes that use the airport daily . Zuber stated that the airport is looking to grow and have discussed with the FAA . Through the Capital Improvement

Plan ( CIP ), Zuber hopes that the FAA will approve the plan for additional hangars for the airport in order to help increase airport activity .
“ We hope to build additional hangars out there to bring in more planes and more activity at the airport ,” Zuber said .
The addition of new hangars can also help bring in business for

the uptown and downtown businesses .
“ People come in and they have the $ 100 hamburger that they always talk about at the restaurant and they visit downtown and if they visit Atlantic City , they stay in the area . So we hope that building these additional hangars would help bring more downtown business to the downtown businesses and the uptown businesses too , the White Horse Pike , downtown restaurants and bars . So we hope that eventually building additional hangars would help downtown and the community overall ,” Zuber said .
A time frame for when the hangers will be built is not determined yet but Zuber is guessing that it will be around 2024 or 2025 for the hangers to be built . Zuber stated that the plans could change as the FAA base these projects on MPR ratings .
“ The MPR rating is based on safety so a lot of these projects don ’ t get a high MPR rating and they ’ re the first ones to go ,” Zuber said .
Zuber gave an example that if the airport needs a new fence , security cameras or structure removal , that gets a high rating and the FAA will fund the grants for those types of projects . If the MPR rating is low , the less chance

that a project will be fully funded by the FAA , according to Zuber .
“ Something like a terminal building will not be as high as a fence rehab or a new security system at the airport ,” Zuber said .
The airport saw two new hangars built in 2022 and a new lease was signed at the end of December to build two hangars at the airport . One of the hangars will be used as a flying school , which will help the airport tremendously . As stated above , the taxiway rehab is one of the improvement plans for the airport as well as resurfacing the runway , which they will be working on for the next three to five years . They have looked into expanding the airport but that possibly won ’ t happen as they would need to negotiate with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ( NJDEP ) and New Jersey Pinelands Commission ( NJPC ) for tree removal .
“ We ’ ve always looked into adding length at the airport but I don ’ t know if that ’ ll ever happen because we need some trees taken out and we have to negotiate with the NJDEP and Pinelands . Both would have the okay and that ’ s something that the town is working towards but we ’ re still waiting for that to happen so that might be a while out ,” Zuber said .
As for the financial side , the airport has been revenue positive for the town , with a couple of leases , fixed base operator , state police and a couple of other operations that the airport has been collecting revenue from , according to Zuber .
