Obituaries Paul L . Henshaw

Paul L . Henshaw , 73 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away , peacefully at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family .
Paul was a lifelong Hammonton resident and graduated from St . Joseph High School in 1967 . Paul was a “ Joey ” from 1963 to 1967 . He played football , basketball and baseball . The Henshaws were legendary athletes that were burned in effigy by rival Hammonton High School at bonfire pep rallies . In the summers during high school and college , he worked loading trucks for Donio Trucking and lugging quarter cows for Iowa Beef Packers .
Since graduating with a bachelor ’ s degree from Parsons College , Fairfield , Iowa , in 1971 , he had serviced the town and South Jersey ’ s personal and commercial insurance needs . Paul worked as an insurance account executive for M . L . Ruberton Agency for the past 25 years . Prior to that , he worked at Cashan Agency for 20 years .
He enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel , skiing and working in his garden . He was so proud of his blueberry and blackberry plants . Paul was an outstanding crabber , spending many hours on the water to return with a bushel of crabs .
He is predeceased by his parents , Francis Scott , Sr . and Martha ( nee Lock ) Henshaw ; his brother , Francis Scott Henshaw Jr .; his father and mother-in-law , Ronald L . and Cecelia Roff ; and brother-in-law , Ronald L . Roff Jr .
He is survived by his loving wife , Karen ( nee Roff ); his sons , Paul Jr ., Kevin , Todd and his wife Staci , and Christopher and his wife Briana ; brothers , Thomas , Richard , Larry and his wife Louise , Robert and his wife Phyllis ; sisters-in-law , JoAnne Henshaw , Cindy Ayers , Janice LaRosa ( Joe ) and Tammy Roff ; and many cousins , nieces and nephews .
Relatives and friends attended his viewing Wednesday , January 26 , 2022 , from 6 p . m . to 9 p . m . at the Marinella Funeral Home , 102 N . Third St ., Hammonton , NJ 08037 . A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday , January 27 , 2022 at 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt Carmel Parish St . Joseph Church , 3rd & French Streets , Hammonton , N . J . There was no viewing in the morning . Entombment followed at Greenmount Cemetery , 124 S . First Rd . Hammonton , N . J .

Louis A . Giamporcaro

Louis A . Giamporcaro , 99 , passed away on October 27 , 2021 with his wife of 75 years , Loredana , by his side .
Louis was born in Philadelphia on July 23 , 1922 . He spent his early years in Philadelphia and then moved to Hammonton , New Jersey where he grew up with three brothers and one sister . He was a good student and he liked to improve his skills . In high school , he attended a trade school , where he learned the rudiments of Morse code , and worked throughout his high school experience .
When Louis received notice by the draft board regarding his enlistment as a soldier in World War II , his work company wanted him deferred . However , Lou told his parents that he would willingly volunteer if the army needed him . He agreed to enlist in the U . S . Army with the ambitious mindset that he wanted to “ save the world .”
He was assigned to work in the communications department copying Morse code . As a result of his ability to copy much faster than average , he was transferred to Camp Crowder as Technician 5th class . He trained for three months for an Italian Speaking Communication Center working with all forms of communication : teletype , phone , radio and photography . A part of the 63rd Signal Battalion ( 5th Army ), his job was to act as a liaison between the American and Italian armies , should the Italian Army decide to switch sides . Although that never happened , he served in Oman , Africa and throughout Italy , sending and receiving messages to artillery units .
He met his wife , Loredana , while he was on tour in Italy and they married in 1946 . Upon his honorable discharge from the Army , he and his wife lived in Vienna , Austria , eventually moving to the United States , where he began a career with the American Foreign Service as a Staff Officer .
He and his wife lived overseas for more than 20 years , living in France , Germany , Switzerland , Egypt and the U . S . S . R . before bringing his family back to the U . S . to settle in Arlington , Virginia . From there , he continued his career with the Foreign Service until retirement , travelling over the world .
He was athletic , excelling in all types of sports . He was dedicated to his country and his family , filled with determination and good humor . He will be greatly missed by his family and friends .
He is survived by his wife , Loredana ; his children , David Giamporcaro ( and wife , Jeanne ); Marc Giamporcaro ( and wife , Sarah ); and four grandchildren , Christopher Giamporcaro , Elena Giamporcaro , Mario Giamporcaro , and Maria Giamporcaro .

Obituaries Kathy P . Volpi

Kathy P . Volpi died peacefully at her residence on Saturday , December 18 , 2021 at 4:23 a . m . with her loving husband by her side .
Kathy was a graduate of St . Joseph High School where she received a reward for excellence in Latin presented to her by Mr . and Mrs . Charles Ranere . She was also a graduate of Glassboro State Teachers College ( currently Rowan University ) receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in teaching .
Married in November 28 , 1964 to James Volpi , resided in Haddon Twp . for two years and 30 years in Cherry Hill . She was employed fulltime for 37 years as a remedial reading teacher in Hammonton and Winslow Twp . but mostly at Stoy and VanSciver Schools in the Haddon Twp . School District . While residing in Cherry Hill , she was employed part-time evenings at the then new Echelon Mall in the information booth and attended several social events hosted by mall administrators for mall employees .
She and her husband took a memorable trip to Switzerland and Northern Italy inclusive of Lugano . Also over the years trips to Myrtle Beach and New Orleans were frequent and enjoyable . Kathy also enjoyed going to the theater district in New York City where she saw several live stage shows one of which was the original cast of Lion King . She loved going to see The Rockettes in N . Y . for the Christmas Spectacular . She also was a member of the Walnut Street Theater for several years located in Philadelphia .
She retired from teaching in 1997 and moved to Hammonton to her lifelong residence at 532 Grape St . Soon after she became involved as an ardent volunteer at Kessler Memorial Hospital ( KMH ) and ultimately was elected President of the KMH Auxiliary . During her tenure as President , she and her staff were responsible for holding various charitable events resulting in monetary donations to KMH . Some of the events hosted by the Auxiliary are enumerated as follows : Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon ; Christmas Tree Decoration Event ; Annual Hoagie Sale ; Casino Trips and Bake Sales . The Auxiliary was also responsible for the opening of a Fashion Boutique resulting in used and new clothing .
Kathy was also a prolific writer of several editorial articles appearing in The Hammonton Gazette . Titles of some articles published were as follows : If Ben Franklin lived today : Knowing what it takes to be a good leader ; March ’ s arrival brings whispers of spring ; Reflections on the former pope ; April is volunteer month ; Summer festival season ; Christmas traditions from around the world ; Illiteracy is a large problem facing our nation ; Will we outlive our cash . In addition to these editorials , she also wrote several letters to the editor .
In her later years , she enjoyed being an usher in the entertainment venues at the Borgata Casino where she made several new friends and met many entertainers . She especially loved the music of Josh Groban and El Divo . She enjoyed the comedy style of Seinfeld who appeared several times at Borgata . She also enjoyed playing the slots at the Borgata since at that time employees were allowed to play during their time off .
She was fond of watching baseball especially her Phillies . The baseball playoffs were always a special event . The extended baseball season up to the World Series was enjoyable . A very memorable event was driving to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx , New York City with several of her Borgata usher friends to watch the Phillies play the Yankees especially in a hot 98-degree temperatures day .
In her spare time , she loved to cook and bake and child sit our beautiful twin granddaughters and traveled with the family to Myrtle Beach , Virginia Beach and Ocean City Maryland .
Finally she loved going to Mass at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel where she served as lector and member of the Rosary Society and enjoyed having breakfast with many friends who attended the 8 a . m . Mass . She also enjoyed scheduled breakfasts with classmates at the Silver Coin Diner inclusive of lunches and dinners at other area restaurants .
I personally will always have my dear spouse and friend Kathy in my heart and mind .

RoseEtta A . Ferranto

RoseEtta A . Ferranto ( nee Fallucca ), 77 , of Hammonton , N . J . passed away Thursday , January 27 , 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family .
RoseEtta was born and raised in Hammonton . She worked for First Federal and Hansens Savings Bank for many years and retired from AtlantiCare in Hammonton . RoseEtta loved spending time with her family and especially her grandkids for Sunday gravy .
RoseEtta is predeceased by her parents , Marie ( nee Salvatore ) and John Fallucca , and her sisters , Josephine Puleo and MaryAnn French .
She is survived by her husband of 59 years , James N . Ferranto ; her children , James “ Jimmy ” Ferranto Jr ., Jaime Porretta and her husband Joey and Jonathan Ferranto . She is the loving grandmother of Matthew , Hannah , Jacob , Brooke , Mia , Jackson , Nathan and her granddog Maggie . Also survived by her many nieces and nephews .
Relatives and friends attended her visitation on Tuesday , February 1 , 2022 from 9 a . m . to 10:30 a . m . at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N . Third St . Hammonton , NJ 08037 . A Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish – St . Joseph Church Third & French Streets Hammonton , N . J . Entombment was at Greenmount Cemetery 124 S . First Rd . Hammonton , NJ 08037 .
