HaMMONtON—During the
regular meeting of town council on
January 27, Hammonton Board of
education President Joseph Giralo
came before council to request that
the town start issuing tickets on
the road to excellence (the road
that runs from fourth Street to Old

to help ensure safety following a
traffic survey and previous discussions.
“the key is that when the traffic
study was done, cars were clocked
doing as high as 65 miles per hour
on the road to excellence. it’s in
no one’s best interest that that happen,” Giralo said.
town solicitor Brian Howell told
Giralo that an ordinance was probably required for such action but it
could be set in motion for the february meeting.
“Since we met, and i think you’ll
find you have full support of this
council, i don’t think that’s an
issue at all, procedurally we may
have to do it in the form of an ordinance, that may take a little
longer than we would like…we’ll
have that on the february agenda
first reading, if we have a special
meeting we can accelerate that,”
Howell said.
