James P . Crescenzo
James P . Crescenzo , 74 , of Hammonton , died on Saturday , January 21 , 2017 , at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway Twp . surrounded by his family .
Born and raised in Hammonton , he graduated from Hammonton High School and attended Goldey-Beacom Business College in Wilmington , Delaware . He worked many years alongside his father at their gas and tire repair shop . In 1972 , Jimmy brought the business Crescent Tire to the White Horse Pike and expanded the business into a tire and auto repair facility . Through the years , his wife , son and daughter also worked at the family business and relocated to downtown Hammonton . He took much pride in having a family run business . Jimmy ’ s love of his hometown showed through his many lifelong friends and customers . You were always able to catch Jimmy hanging out at the garage sharing stories with his friends and customers or at the games watching his grandsons play soccer and baseball . He was an avid hunter and harvested a NJ state record deer . Hunting was a hobby that he loved sharing with the boys in his life . He was also a former member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 1658 .
Jimmy was predeceased by his son , Jamie and parents , James and Shirley Crescenzo . He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years , Rose H . ( nee Caruso ); two daughters , Christa Lynn McIntosh and her husband , Shawn , and Erika Lynn Hroncich and her husband , Paul ; daughter-in-law , Carolyn Crescenzo , all of Hammonton ; his sister , Cindy Mento ( the late Anthony Mento ) of Hammonton ; his grandchildren , J . C . Crescenzo , P . J ., Nico and Tommy Hroncich , and Joseph McIntosh , and by many nieces and nephews .
Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday , January 25 , 11 a . m ., at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish – St . Anthony of Padua Church , 285 Rt . 206 , Hammonton , NJ . Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery , 124 S . First Rd ., Hammonton , NJ .

Dr . Ruben Famy Reyes , 88 , of Ocean City , formerly of Hammonton , died on Monday , January 16 , 2017 , at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly .
Dr . Reyes was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Medical School Class of 1955 ( Philippines ). His medical experience included the following : Saint Luke Hospital ( Albert Einstein ), Philadelphia , Pa .; West Jersey Hospital ( Virtua ), Berlin ; William B . Kessler Memorial Hospital , Hammonton ; Ancora Psychiatric Hospital , Winslow : Rosebud Medical / Health Center , Rosebud , SD ; Broadway Family Practice , Camden , where he retired in 2000 .
Ruben was predeceased by his wife , Dr . Roberta T . Reyes ; his son , Rodney T . Reyes and his parents , Dr . Geronimo Reyes Sr . and Trinidad Famy Reyes . He is survived by his daughter , Rissa and her husband , Andrew Trofa ; son , Rowell and his wife , Gloria Reyes ; daughter , Rinna and her husband , Dr . Sheldon Lin , and Lisa Reyes ; his grandchildren , Andrew and Nathaniel Trofa , Rheana , Rhett and Roselyn Reyes , Ryan and Rachel Reyes , Anna , Jeffrey , Julia and Michael Lin .

Dessalena Matassa DeFeo
Dessalena “ Dessie ” Matassa ( nee Piason ) DeFeo , 89 , of Hammonton , died January 18 , 2017 , at Heritage Assisted Living .
Dessie was born in Winslow and also lived in Absecon for many years . She worked for A & P Market in Hammonton for more than 30 years as a bookkeeper .
Dessie was predeceased by her husbands , Louis Matassa and Louis DeFeo ; parents , James and Raffaela Piason ; brothers , Carmen and Frank Piason ; sisters , Clara Maffei , Catherine Maffei , Madeline Piscatelli and Josephine Lacovarra . She is survived by her daughter , Kathryn and her husband , Michael C . Macrie of Rosedale ; three sisters , Antoinette Christopher of Rosedale , Dolores Munson of Stratford and Sylvia Olivo of Hammonton ; sisterin-law , Lucy Piason of Winslow ; grandchildren , Michael W . Macrie and his wife , Jessica , and Kristen Reed and her husband , Travis ; great-grandchildren , Bennett Webster Macrie , Lila Chase Macrie , Emmalena Kathryn Reed and Travis John Reed Jr .. She will be sadly missed by many nieces , nephews and cousins .

Giralo back on planning board
PLANNING , from Page 1 opportunity … to give something to the town of Hammonton . I ’ ve lived here my whole life ; this is my town ; I love this town ; this is the best town in New Jersey as far as I ’ m concerned , and by serving on the board and giving something back , it makes my mind at ease . I love it , and I appreciate them bringing me back as chairman again ,” Marinelli said to The Gazette following the meeting .

Kent as vice chair of the Planning Board for a one-year term , which was seconded by board member Councilman Joseph Giralo and approved unanimously . Giralo was also officially appointed to the Hammonton Planning Board during the meeting . Giralo had previously served on the board for more than 30 years , dating back to 1982 . After being appointed for the first time in three years , Giralo told The
Marie E . ( nee Gregori ) Ford , 86 , of Hammonton , died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday , January 19 , 2017 .
Born in Winslow , she was a lifelong resident of the Hammonton and Winslow Township area . Before retiring , she worked as Deli Manager for SuperFresh in Hammonton , and prior to that , she worked at several other SuperFresh locations in South Jersey . She was a member of the Hammonton Volunteer Rescue Squad for more than 20 years , where she served as president . Mrs . Ford enjoyed cooking , baking , making homemade ravioli and taking care of her large garden . But her greatest joy was spending time with her family , especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren .
She was predeceased by her brothers , Ernest Gregori and Pete
Gregori . She is survived by her husband of 66 years , Leon P . Ford ; five children , Leon Ford Jr . ( Betty ), Terry Ford-Lewis ( Steve ), Robert Ford ( Debbie ), Shirley Grasso ( Joseph ) and Lynne Presti ( Samuel ) all of Hammonton ; six grandchildren , Shawna , Jamilee , Missy , Ryan Marie , Lauren and Carli ; four great-grandchildren , Niko , Bryce , Riley and Kaylee , and one sister , Josephine Santora .

Born and raised in Hammonton , she worked as a Seamstress for Consolidated Pants Company for many years .
She was predeceased by her husband , John A . Arena and parents , Angelo and Marie Monzo . She is survived by her son , Dr . Mario J . Arena and his wife , Diane of Bryn Mawr , Pa .; one sister , Antoinette Inferrera and her husband , Carmen ; grandchildren , Lauren Arena Gribben and her husband , Josh Gribben , and John D . Rosa Santiago , 104 , of Hammonton and formerly of Winslow , died at home on Saturday , January 21 , 2017 .
Born in Comerio , Puerto Rico , she was a longtime area resident .
She was predeceased by her husband , Juan Santiago Sr .; five children , Cleo Santiago , Jose Santiago , Carmelo Santiago , Juan Santiago Jr . and Ana I . Santiago ; three grandchildren , Carlos Santiago , Freddie Santiago and Christina Santiago . She is survived by her five children , Tomas Santiago , Flor Santiago ( Milagros ), Luis Santiago ( Rose ), Carlos Santiago and Aida Guzman ( Max ); daughter-in-law , Lydia Santiago ; special granddaughter , Ana Cruz Berrios ; one sister , Cruza Santiago ; 25 grandchildren , 19 great-grandchildren , and 19 great-greatgrandchildren .
A viewing will be held on Wednesday , January 25 , 2017 , from 9 a . m . to 11 a . m . at St . Mary of Mt . Carmel Parish Church of St . Joseph ’ s , 226 French Street in Hammonton , where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a . m . Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hammonton .

Ramona Marie Capelli
Ramona Marie ( nee Alessandrini ) Capelli , 79 , of Hammonton , died on January 19 , 2017 , following a brave six year battle with cancer .
She was born in Williamstown but moved to Hammonton with her family at an early age . She graduated from St . Joseph ’ s in Hammonton in 1955 ( in a class of 23 kids , as she liked to say ) and worked a variety of retail jobs until her marriage in 1959 . She was a stay-at-home mom and volunteered at St . Joe while her children were enrolled . A friend once called her the “ perfect St . Joe mom .” She enjoyed shopping , playing slot machines , cooking for her family and decorating her home for the holidays . She loved watching “ Survivor ” and talking about the results with her granddaughters . She had a love-hate relationship with the Phillies , but you could find her watching a game on her porch most summer nights . The family would like to thank the “ angels on earth ” at the Nazha Cancer Center , Drs . Dalzell , May and Nazha and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice , especially Geisel and Suzanne .
She was predeceased by her parents , Rose ( Geneva ) and Lou Alessandrini and her older brothers , Louis and James . She is survived by her husband , Gayton ; daughter , Janice Eggie ; son-in-law , Jake Eggie ; granddaughters , Olivia Rose Eggie and Angela Joan Eggie , who were the apples of her eye , of Marmora ; sons , David , at home , and Chip , of Provincetown , Mass .; her sister , Paula Weisbecker of Hammonton ; brother , Joseph of Fairfield Glen , Tenn ., as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews “ by blood and by love .”
Visitation will be at 10 a . m . Saturday , January 28 , 2017 , followed by a celebration of Mona ’ s life , 11 a . m ., at the Carnesale Funeral Home , 202 S . Third St ., Hammonton , NJ 08037 .
