PLANNING, from Page 1
linksy law firm. Chairman Edward
Marinelli welcomed the board
back for another year of service.
“I want to say Happy New Year
to everyone. I am glad to see
everyone back, and we are underway for 2015. Hopefully the commercial real estate situation in
Hammonton will start moving
ahead, and Hammonton can start
focusing on some business here for
the planning board and for the
town,” Marinelli said.
The election of officers portion
of the planning board meeting
began with the nomination for
chairman. Board member Michael
Hozik nominated Marinelli to assume the position, and DeMarco
seconded the motion. All board
members in attendance voted yes
to have Marinelli back for another
one-year term to serve as the chairman.
“Thank you gentleman, I appreciate it. I hope we can get busy and
exercise our rights here on the
planning board,” Marinelli said.
Next, a vice chairperson was determined by the members of the
board. It had to be Class IV member and the individual would assume the chairman position if need
be throughout the calendar year.
DeMarco nominated Gordon
Pherribo and Hozik seconded the
motion. All members of the board
voted yes on the matter, and Pherribo has been appointed the vice
chairman for the planning board
for a term of one year.
Malinsky was voted as the
board solicitor for another oneyear term. Robert Vettese of
Adams, Rehmann and Heggan Associates was once again appointed
the position as board engineer,
while Kevin Dixon of Dixon Associates Engineering will remain
the board’s planner and traffic consultant. Patti Berenato will be the
board secretary for another oneyear term.
The official roll call for 2015
was taken by Berenato. She explained that Paul Esposito will be
taking Mayor Stephen DiDonato’s
seat on the board, while Thomas
Gribbin will be sitting in as a
member of town council. Elsie

Baez will be an alternate on the
board, while the other board member is Kristyn Kent who served on
the board last year as well.
Members of the board had to
adopt the minutes from the final
two meetings of 2014: November

Accident damages
water filter tanks
by Gabe Donio
GAZETTE STAFF WRITER
HAMMONTON—An accident
on Route 42 at approximately
10:45 a.m. on January 7 in Bellmawr involving a flatbed truck
carrying two water filter tanks that
were going to be installed inside
the municipal water facility at
Wells 1 and 3 on Lincoln Avenue
damaged the tanks, potentially
causing a major delay in the
process of installing them at the facility, Mayor Stephen DiDonato
told The Gazette.
The accident occurred on Route
42, according to reports. Apparently the water filter tanks were
too high to fit under an overpass,
and they struck it, came off the
flatbed truck and damaged other
vehicles on the highway, reports
said. The New Jersey State Police
said that four people were taken to
the hospital for treatment of minor
injuries, reports said.
DiDonato said the water filter
tanks would most likely no longer
be usable, and that there was a
“14- to 16-week lead time” on
building the tanks.
“That could create some issues
for the contractor,” DiDonato said.
According to DiDonato, the
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)
and the town have an Administrative Consent Order (ACO) with a
May deadline.
“This way we would be online
for the summer season. We will
have to get the tanks elsewhere,”
DiDonato said.
The town should not be liable
for the accident, he said.
“I would say no. The general
contractor hired a subcontractor to
do the transport,” DiDonato said.
Wells 1 and 3 remain offline, but
