revealed that they have had a few people volunteer to be on committees . According to Bertino , there are Hammontonians that are on the Agricultural Advisory Board ( AAB ), some work at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority ( ACUA ) and the Atlantic County Improvement Authority ( ACIA ) will be hiring another Hammontonian . Those interested can send a resume or an application to a committee they want to be considered on to Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson .
“ There ’ s always opportunities for anyone that wants to volunteer to add their expertise , service and their time to make Atlantic County a better county ,” Bertino said .
Hammonton employees have looked to the Atlantic County government as an opportunity to move forward in their professional development . Bertino noted that there are opportunities for Hammonton employees to get involved with the Atlantic County government .
“ They simply have to make the request , let us know there ’ s that kind of interest . When there ’ s openings in Atlantic County government , they have the opportunity to put their resumes in , along with everybody else ,” Bertino said .

In terms of joint town-county projects in progress or coming up , they are modernizing the Atlantic County Public Works Yard on Egg Harbor Road . Bertino has reached out to the schools to see if there are partnerships that they can do with a field depot that can be beneficial for Hammonton and Atlantic County .
“ You have to take advantage in today ’ s world where shared services , which Dennis Levinson has been championing since he ’ s been in office , he ’ s always recognized that sometimes you don ’ t need to be a small town to pay the expenses to run an operation when you can share it with other municipalities and cut the costs to save yourself some money and a lot of aggravation and time ,” Bertino said .
Bertino believes that there ’ s always opportunities that Atlantic County can share with Hammonton on a variety of projects . He noted the pilot program implemented by the county where the courts can share some court cases coming out of Atlantic County .
“ We remodeled the building down in Mays Landing and a lot of it , of course , because of today ’ s technology , you can do a lot of Zoom meetings , a lot of online stuff , which saves the public time of traveling back and forth ,”

Bertino noted that Atlantic County has always been in the forefront and will lead in helping out any municipalities . He is hopeful for some opportunities to put together a tax committee , which was once put together a few years back . Bertino will be speaking with the fire and rescue squad about a 911 dispatch type service and see if there ’ s a fit today than from the program that was presented a few years back .
There has been discussion for putting a fuel depot in front of the fence at the maintenance yard and doing a 24-hour service . Bertino and Levinson have discussed it as a joint town and county project in
