HAMMONTON — During the December 20 meeting of council , town engineer Kathryn Cornforth of Adams , Rehmann and Heggan Associates ( ARH ) discussed the proposed water main extension on First Road . Cornforth began by discussing the replacement of existing water main along South First Road , from 11th Street to the end of the main , just past Birch Drive .
“ What we would actually do is , in a previous project the town did , they made some provisions outside of the roadway . They put in some 12-inch dry main anticipating a future replacement ; they did that in the 10th Street intersection , we ’ ll go a couple hundred extra more feet to at least get to that dry connection ,” Cornforth said .
Cornforth said that there have been discussions with some of the residents in the proposed area who are on POET ( Point-of-Entry Treatment ) systems to see if there is interest in hooking up to town water , should the town decide to run the water main . Cornforth noted that the database of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ( NJDEP ) indicates no known contamination or delineated contamination zones in those areas .
