what is digital arts? At one point in your educational career, you will probably be faced with the option of enrolling in a Dig- ital Arts course, but what exactly does this mean? Digital arts is a field of technological studies in which digital resources are used to create or modify creative/artistic work. Some of the most common applica- tions of digital arts are image editing and graphic creation, which are commonly used to retouch pictures and create seamless graphics for magazines and websites. While often neglected, digital arts have a great role in many careers, not just graphic design and photogra- phy. Some other careers that use digital arts include videogame designer, concept artist, magazine editor, fashion designer, etc. It is vital for people to know digital arts, as it can also help them make basic picture edits (such as removing people or increasing brightness) and even creating attractive posters to advertise a product or event. Some digital arts applications that are commonly used: • Adobe Illustrator: A vector-based program in which users can create high-quality sketches and graphics. • Adobe Photoshop: Photoshop is an application that allows users to combine and modify images by using nimerous tools, filters, and effects. • Adobe InDesign: InDesign is a software that allows users to create appealing magazines. • Adobe Animate: Animate is an application that allows users to create animations (such as frame-by- frame and computer generated) and interactive animated displays (by using buttons and functions). page 4
