Fashion editors Christalla Nicolau, Emily Slater and Charlotte Ellis reflect on The Clothes Show Live 2013
Unknown to many, The Clothes
Show originated from a TV show
designed to bring high fashion to
the general public, however due
to receiving extraordinary
viewing figures throughout the
1980’s, the first Clothes Show
Live event launched in London in
1989 and still exists today due to
staggering visitor turnouts each
year - with over a total of
165,000 attending over the 25
years it has been active. Last year
The Clothes Show Live celebrated
its 25th Anniversary.

Over the years, the event has
been hosted by various
celebrities and live music
performances from stars such as
The Spice Girl, JLS and The
Saturdays. This year saw the
return of a number of celebrities
including TOWIE’s Mark Wright,
Amy Childs and Gemma Collins
along with reality TV star Peter
Andre. There were also a number
of new faces including the likes of
'Made In Chelsea' stars Andy
Jordan, Caggie Dunlop and Jamie
Laing. The Clothes Show Live is
the UK’s largest fashion event
hosted right here in Birmingham,
annually at the NEC. The event
showcases a five day fashion
festival jam-packed with top
fashion and beauty brands to
shop from, with over 380
individual stalls to shop from Rimmel, Barry M, BareMinerals,
Models Own, Lee Stafford, a
range of fashion stalls and a
number of celebrity brands
including Jamie Laing’s Candy
Kittens and Caggie Dunlop’s
ISWAI.
Once again, the spectacular
annual event will be taking place
between the 5th - 9th December
at the NEC. Tickets for The
Clothes Show Live will be
purchasable from the Clothes
Each year the Clothes Show Live
entertains 2 catwalks. The
Imagine Catwalk sponsored by
Diet Coke and The Designer
Catwalk which includes
appearances from The Britain
and Irelands Next Top Model
contestants and previous winner
Jade Thompson. The Imagine
Catwalk featured exclusive work
from final year students,
graduates and next generation
designers and The Designer
Catwalk exhibited runway
collections coupled with high
street must-haves.
Over the past few years, the
schools Business Department has
invited students on a trip to The
Clothes Show Live with the aim
of allowing them to find out
more about local and worldwide
businesses and gain a little
understand of how they function
as a company, while also
enjoying all that a The a Clothes
