Federal Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek visited Townsville in April to announce $ 150 million of additional funding for initiatives to protect the Great Barrier Reef from the impacts of sediment runoff . Projects will include works to improve riverbanks , revegetation , local habitats , grazing management and carbon sequestration .
