The Abbey Brook Conservation Area represents one of the most significant, intact stream systems in Springfield...
This summer, Regreen Springfield has been working on a series of projects and programming in the Abbey Brook Conservation Area of Springfield. The watershed is one of the most degraded waterways in the city, having heavy concentrations of developed land surrounding the Brook and surrounding forest.
Working with partners from Sustainable Springfield, and through funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), Regreen Springfield spearheaded efforts to provide environmental education to residents, install trail signage, place interpretive informational displays across the watershed, build stream crossings and conducted a 'Bio-Blitz' environmental study of the Abbey Brook Conservation Area.
The work will continue through the next year, as a series of additional projects kick off in the watershed. Please join us as we continue our efforts to help restore Abbey Brook.
