One of the points discussed with Landers
was the leadership given by veteran coach
Steve Perakslis. “Coach gets us ready for
every game and always puts us in the best
chance to win,” said Landers. Coach
Perakslis recently achieved the prestigious
milestone of 200 career wins over his 13
field and Kearns, the junior, should help
the team out because of his good JV pitching.” Both players excel at their positions
and should undoubtedly continue to make
waves on the varsity team. Getting to the
tournament has been no small task, yet as

Advice for Freshmen
Class of 2017 gives counsel to the Class of 2018
Christian Berk, Contributor
My name is Christian Berk and I am a
freshman at Abington High School. I was
curious how other freshmen felt about
their first year now that it is just about
over. AHS will have a fresh batch of
new students next year. I decided to ask a
few of the current freshmen how their year
has been, and if they had any advice that
will benefit the incoming freshmen.
The first person I asked was Kevin
O‟Neil. “My freshmen year was a
great experience; it was filled with a lot of
great memories that I am glad I got to
make. I have no regrets on how things
have been and would not change a thing,”
said O‟Neil. When asked about the people
at the new school he replied, “I‟ve met a
ton of new people, mainly through hockey
and lacrosse, but also just from around the
school.”
One thing I was very interested in was if
he had any advice for the new freshmen.
His response was “Well the main thing I
can say is to make sure you enjoy your
time here because it doesn‟t last long.
The environment in the high school
is completely different from the Frolio
(junior high). Also, when I say your time
here will fly by I really mean it. This year
has definitely been the fastest year I‟ve
experienced yet. I am looking forward
to the rest of my high school career,” said
O‟Neil.
Kevin said a lot of things I would surely
agree with, the main one being how the
time flew by. The time you spend at
the high school isn‟t a dreadful experience
like what you may have experienced before. You actually enjoy coming to school
and having the privilege to learn from the
great teachers.
I was interested to see if another student
would have many of the same insights that
Kevin did. Freshman Nick Baxter said,
“I personally feel like the transition to
the high school wasn‟t that hard. After
about two weeks of school I already knew
