It all started with a shiny, sparkly engagement ring, and now here you are busy planning your big day. So let's talk about colours for a bit. When you’re considering the ‘look’ of your wedding, colours are probably going to play a big part. If you’re having a country garden style of wedding, then you could have opted for muted pastels – something soft. If it’s a city wedding then maybe you’re ramping up the

sophistication with monochrome shades.

But one colour scheme you should certainly consider is using golds, silver and metallics.

Perfect for a destination wedding

If you've decided to tie the knot on a tropical beach somewhere, then a flash of silver on your dress will look dazzling in hot sunlight - or gold if you prefer. Destination wedding dresses tend to be slightly simpler than traditional wedding dresses – a draped goddess style can look fabulous. If you’re wearing a classic white number then walk down that sandy aisle in beautifully pedicured feet – with metallic nail varnish. Add a metallic cuff to your arm. Look out for a bridal frock with some diamante detail that will sparkle (take a look at the scrolling gallery for

ideas!). If And your bridesmaids can get the look too – maybe in a Dessy twist wrap dress which can be altered to suit each girl’s figure and accentuate their good points. It’s available in platinum and can be worn as a halter neck, strapless or with sleeves - it also packs beautifully, just requiring a shake out on arrival.

Winter Sparkle

Think of a winter wedding and the colours that spring to mind will be rich reds, purples, deep blues. You could also take your inspiration from a snowy winter day and add glistening accents.

For your bridal shoes, forget about wearing traditional white or ivory and go for a metallic pump. Not only will it add an original touch to your wedding ensemble but it’s also a practical and cost-effective choice too. Think about it

– when will you wear white wedding shoes again? On the other hand, if you’ve

always fancied a pair of Jimmy Choos then search out a pair in metallic and you’ll

wear them time and time again when you want to get dressed up. So if you do

the maths and work out the cost per wear, it’s a much more reasonable option.

Metallic accessories like shoes also tend to go with many different colours which

opens up your wardrobe choices even more.
