Local Men in Sheds project puts a
call out for a venue
A
new Evesham Men in
Shed’s project supported
by Age UK Herefordshire &
Worcestershire needs a venue -
can you help?
Age UK Herefordshire &
Worcestershire and the steering
group members of the ‘Evesham
Men in Sheds’ project are putting
a call out to the local community
to find a suitable venue for their
shed. They ask that local
property owners, organisations,
businesses and local people with
any ideas to please contact them
with suggested locations.
What is a Men in Sheds project?
A Men’s Shed can be like garden
a shed – a place to pursue
practical interests at leisure, to
practice skills and enjoy making
and mending. The difference is
that garden sheds and their
activities are often solitary in
nature while Men’s Sheds are the
opposite - they’re about social
connections and friendship
building, tackling loneliness,
sharing skills and knowledge, and
of course cups of tea and
laughter.
venue is needed to make it
happen.”
Other Men in Shed’s projects
have used portacabins, garages,
industrial units or spaces where
they can site a portacabin or build
a shed, but we are open to all
suggestions. The ideal location
would need to have electricity,
access to a lavatory and be secure,
and a venue needing initial work
would be seriously considered. Local charity Age UK

will be supporting the running of

that we can find suitable premises
in the Evesham area that will
enable the Shed to get up and
running! It’s great to know that
local members of the community
want to attend, and that local and
district councils and some
businesses are already supporting
the project. If you would like to
support a fantastic project, we’d
love to hear from you.”

we will offer a physical space where
people can meet and pursue
varied interests. The project has
