My name is Angie Melean, certified massage therapist and I have been in practiced for the past 3 years. Today I will be sharing with you a few insights about the wonders of a massage. A massage as a healing tool has been around for thousands of years in many cultures. It has been scientifically proven to have such benefits like: treating chronic diseases and injuries to alleviating the growing tensions of our modern lifestyles. Having a massage is not just about relaxing your mind and you body, there are specific physiological changes which occur, even more so when massage is utilized as a preventative. Massage not only feels good, but it can cure what troubles you. The incredible benefits of massage are doubly powerful if taken in regular “doses.” For the same reasons that a massage is relaxing, it can also soothe anxiety and depression. So what exactly are the benefits of receiving regular massage treatments? * Increases circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. * Stimulates the flow of lymph, the body’s natural defense system, against toxic invaders. For example, in breast cancer patients, massage has shown to increase the cells that fight cancer. * Increased circulation of blood and lymph systems improves the condition of the body’s largest organ - the skin. * Relaxes and softens injured and overused muscles * Reduces spasms and cramping * Increases joint flexibility. * Reduces recovery time, helps prepare for strenuous workouts and eliminates subsequent pains. * High blood pressure patients demonstrate lower diastolic blood pressure, anxiety, and stress hormones. * Arthritis sufferers note fewer aches and less stiffness and pain. * Relieves pain for migraine sufferers and decreases the need for medication * Provides exercise and stretching for atrophied muscles and reduces shortening of the muscles for those with restricted range of motion. * Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles. * Increase joint flexibility. * Scientists are not yet certain what changes occur in the body during massage, whether they influence health, and, if so, how.
