the elderly, the saved and the unsaved, those at the highest
levels of government and those who could not name their
elected representatives if their lives depended on it. The
men became teachers as they conducted talks and classes
with those willing to listen. What was once a vacant in-
ner-city grassy lot, became hallowed ground.
The mission of the hunger strike was accomplished as
their primary goal was to create meaningful dialog re-
garding gun violence and its devastating impact on the
community. You cannot solve problems if you don’t talk
about them. In fact, not talking about it is the first sign
of accepting the status quo. The Hunger Nine and The
Circle of Brotherhood are change agents in this commu-
nity and change is definitely what we need.
When asked what did they now want the community to
know, Leroy Jones simply expressed that they want for-
giveness for any past mistakes that they have made. They
want the opportunity to be the men they were created to
be.
A Call To Action From
THE CIRCLE OF BROTHERHOOD
Our Community is plagued with self inflicted problems,
but when you really look at the community as a whole and
the infrastructure of blighted communities, you can see
how it is set up for conditional programming and eventu-
ally failure.
When born and raised in an environment, people tend to
adapt to that environment. Once you adapt to your sur-
roundings and become comfortable within it, most see no
reason to leave or improve themselves beyond it.
The responsibility of the cultivating, rebuilding and main-
taining productivity within our community lies with the
men!
So the challenge becomes, how do we break the cycle of
blatancy that exist within us along with the neglect that
we show to our responsibilities?
The Time Is Now! Together we unite as a Circle of One.
Together we issue an order of black excellence. Together
we stand to solve our own community problems. Togeth-
er we unite to form the CIRCLE OF BROTHERHOOD!
