Out With The Old And In
With The Fabulous!
By Nicole Bowen
Every year, the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the
future….this is known as Fashion Week. These words, from fashionista Carrie Bradshaw,
could not be more accurate! February 6th kicks off the first Fashion Week of 2014 in
New York’s Lincoln Center. Poor fashion decisions of last year (wedge sneakers and
peplum obsession anyone?) are cast aside as the world’s top designers set out to inspire
us all to start fresh. February’s Fashion Week will showcase the Fall/Winter 2014
collections and highlight the upcoming trends. Whether you follow these trends or
ignore them you cannot deny their influence on what you will be seeing in stores and
what you will be wearing come September! For a list of shows and full Fashion Week
coverage you can visit the official website: www.MBFashionWeek.com
Chanel
Any designer of significance has a collection to show. For
huge fashion houses the challenge lies in standing out in
a whirlwind 7 days of shows and collections (over 100 to
be exact). Karl Lagerfeld has taken the Chanel collection
back in time to 1954, the year the French shunned Coco’s
designs and the American’s embraced them with open
arms. The collection has taken the classic Chanel suit and
made the jacket a touch boxier, added length to the skirt,
and exchanged the classic pump for a boot. The outcome?
A fantastic Ralph Lauren-esque Americana feel with the
quintessential Chanel elements.
