If you seek off the beaten track, authentic places to visit in Brittany, Jeremy Waldron, Brittany expert at French Coast Villas reveals four stunning areas...

Le Guilvinec, in the far SW corner of Brittany, is an area known as Pays Bigouden. There are three small fishing ports around this coastline St Guenole, Le Giulvinec and Loctudy which along with Douarnenez to the north are reputed to land 25% of all the inshore fish in France. At 4.00 in the afternoon as you stand on the coast you can hear the hum of the boats returning as they breast the horizon making their way into the port of Le Guilvinec. Then there is a cacophony of sound and action as each little boat nudges into the dockside and without even tying up to off load their catch, they quickly make way for the next boat. You can catch all this action from the viewing gallery above and then take a stroll down to the auction and fish shops to buy the freshest fish you have ever had.
