In mid-January, on a rather cold but bright and sunny Paris day, I had one of the greatest food experiences of my life when I attended a very special event at the Hotel de Ville (Paris Town Hall). The Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo presided over a ceremony to honour every Michelin starred chef in the city - all 84 of them.

Famous chef after famous chef was introduced and I sampled many of their dishes, washed down with champagne. It’s hard work being a writer sometimes and by now I was seriously struggling to fit more in. Slipping outside I sat on a bench in the sunshine by the river, contemplating just how beautiful this city is though I have visited perhaps as much as hundred times.

Soon it was time for more food and wine.
