Doni Belau, author of Paris cocktail says this is the perfect festive drink…
“De la Bretagne was created at Copper Bay, a beautiful Parisian bar, and makes for the perfect craft cocktail using products from Brittany. This darling spot with a maritime feel is owned by two gals and a guy — Elfi, Aurélie and Julien — who are all friends and fellow bartenders.”
Ingredients
1 ounce rye whisky
¾ ounce Pommeau de Bretagne*
½ ounce Bénédictine liqueur
½ tablespoon hydromel like Tupelo Mead
4 dashes anise extract (found in the baker’s section at your grocer’s)
How to make a De La Bretagne
1. Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass without ice.
2. Aerate the liquid with a mini-whisk and swizzle method.
3. Pour the drink into a tall hurricane glass rimmed with Cajun spices.
*Pommeau de Bretagne is a light alcoholic drink made with apple juice and Calvados (apple brandy), and is easily found at better liquor stores.
