Take a break

The north of France is famous for its beer and in Lille you’re truly spoiled for choice. If you want to find out more about beer then Vivat will give you a good start. A bar where you can enjoy tastings of different beers with a platter of cold meat and cheese plus a fun presentation about beer (in English) – it’s a great group activity.

For somewhere a little quieter, Les Hauts de Lille, Casino Barriere has a bar and a rather nice restaurant which isn’t crowded.

Stay in style

For a luxury stay opt for the newly renovated Clarance Hotel – the fomer 18th century mansion is gorgeous.

Suite Novotel right next to the Lille Europe station where Eurostar arrives offers a relaxed stay with a modern vibe.

Getting there and around

Eurostar takes just 1.5 hours from the centre of London to the centre of Lille. It’s easy to get around, buses, trams and the metro mean you have a great choice.

Tour the town

Get a city pass from the tourist office. 24, 48 and 72 hours passes are available. They include entry to 30+ tourist venues including the museums mentioned, and the Louvre Lens Museum (an offshoot of the Louvre Paris) as well as use on public transport. Also included is a guided tour of the town.
