According to the Telegraph newspaper in the UK, there are plans afoot to cut down trees lining country roads in France for “safety reasons”. We’re not talking about all the trees, just the ones deemed to be in danger spots. This has of course sparked controversy, some of the trees are hundreds of years old… watch this space!

A bomb from the Second World War was netted by a ship dredging the estuary of the Loire at Pointe Sain-Gildas, Pays de la Loire, early in March. The explosive device weighing about 500 pounds was safely neutralised.
France’s National Archaeological Research Institute (Inrap) has revealed the discovery of an ancient grave site, probably that of a Celtic prince, which is helping shed light on trade between some of Europe’s earliest civilizations. It is said to date back to the 5th Century BC and was discovered in the small town of Lavau, Champagne.
More than 200 skeletons have been discovered in a medieval mass grave beneath a supermarket in the middle of Paris. The grizly discovery has created a mystery as archeologists don’t yet know how they died or why the bodies were placed in the grave under a Monoprix supermarket in the 2nd arrondissement where a medieval hospital once stood before being pulled down in the 18th Century
The French Government has confirmed it will keep troops on the streets following the terrorist attacks in Paris in January. They will remain at high profile public buildings, religious sites and stations.
