ΒΥΖΑΝΤΙΝΌ ΜΟΥΣΕΊΟ
Βρίσκεται στην πλατεία Διονύσιου Σολωμού και ιδρύθηκε
μετά τους σεισμούς του 1953. Το πιο σημαντικό μουσείο του
νησιού, φιλοξενεί αξιοθαύμαστες συλλογές από τη μεταβυζα-
ντινή, την επτανησιακή και τη ζακυνθινή τέχνη. Ανάμεσα στα
εκθέματα, θα δείτε εκκλησιαστικά και βυζαντινά αγάλματα και
γλυπτά, το εξωτερικό του Ιερού Ναού Αγίου Ανδρέα Βολιμών
και πολύτιμα τέμπλα της εκκλησίας του χωριού Παντοκράτο-
ρα. Ιδιαίτερη μνεία αξίζει και στη συλλογή από ξυλόγλυπτες

BYZANTINE MUSEUM It is located on Dionisios Solomos
Square and was founded after the earthquakes in 1953. The most
important museum of the island, hosting magnificent collections
from the Post-Byzantine, Ionian and Zakynthos art. Among the
exhibits, there are church and byzantine statues and scultpures, the
outer part of the Temple of Aghios Andreas Volimon and precious
altarpieces of the churches of Pantokrator village. The collection
of wooden sculpted icons from the byzantine era are also worth

ΜΟΥΣΕΊΟ ΣΟΛΩΜΟΎ & ΚΆΛΒΟΥ
Λειτούργησε το 1959, τιμώντας τη μνήμη των ζακυνθινών ποιη-
τών, Διονυσίου Σολωμού και Ανδρέα Κάλβου. Το πρώτο πράγ-
μα που αντικρίζει ο επισκέπτης είναι το ιστορικό πουρνάρι που
βρισκόταν στο λόφο του Στράνη, κάτω από το οποίο ο Σολω-
μός εμπνεύστηκε τον εθνικό μας ύμνο. Στο ισόγειο στεγάζεται
το μαυσωλείο όπου φυλάσσονται τα οστά των δύο ποιητών.
Μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον έχουν τα χειρόγραφα των Δ. Σολωμού, Ι.
Τσακασιάνου, Γ. Ξενόπουλου, Ν. Μάντζαρου κ.α. Επιπλέον, θα
θαυμάσετε παραδοσιακές ενδυμασίες, όπλα αριστοκρατικών

SOLOMOS & KALVOS MUSEUM It opened in 1959, honouring
the memory of poets from Zakynthos, Dionisios Solomos and
Andreas Kalvos. It is located on Aghios Markos square, while the
first time the visitor can see it the historical kermes that used to be
on the cliff of Stranis, under which Solomos was drew inspiration
in designing the national anthem of Greece. On the groundfloor
is housed the mausoleum where the remains of the poets are kept.
The manuscripts of D. Solomos, I. Tsakasianos, G. Xenopoulos, N.
Mantzaros , etc. are of major interest. Moreover, you will admire
traditional costumes, weapons of county families and portraits.
