HEADING TO ZAΝΤΕ! The locals call it “Chora”, the visitors call it “Zakynthos town”, but only one thing is certain... this is the financial, cultural, spiritual and social center of the island, with many great things to discover. It is inhabited by about 12.000 people who live in a place that provides them with almost everything, in a movie-like setting and a unique atmosphere that only the island’s people can understand. The only port of “Zante”, connects the island with the Peloponnese, while this is the point of departure of many boats and crafts offering exploration in the beauties and the attractions of the area. The Temple of Aghios Dionysios, looms over the town at the entrance to the port. A bit further away, there is the central square with the statue of Dionysios Solomos, surrounded by cafes, bars, restaurants serving dishes of the traditional cuisine, shops and museums, as well as Bochali with the wonderful view and the scattered historical buildings. The island of the Greek national poet looks also like a poem that everyone can “read” in a different way. 17
