DISTRICT OF KAPNAPOTHIKES
(“TOBACCO WAREHOUSES”)
The district of Kapnapothikes is
an important part of the city, di-
rectly connected to its economical
growth, and also a top specimen
of industrial architecture in Greece,
with building infrastructures that
are unique by European standards.
The tobacco warehouses were built
at the meadows, southeast of Old
Town, separated from the rest of
the settlement, while today the
area is at the fringes of the center.
