Η πόλη των Τρικάλων κρύβει πολλές εκπλήξεις σε κάθε γειτονιά, όπως τα περίφημα
Μανάβικα που είναι από τις πιο παλιές συνοικίες της πόλης. Ανάμεσα στο Βαρούσι
και την κεντρική πλατεία, αποπνέει μια ιδιαίτερη αύρα με ένα μεγάλο αριθμό διατη-
ρητέων παλιών κτιρίων με χαρακτηριστική παραδοσιακή αρχιτεκτονική. Η συνοικία
παλιότερα, περίπου στα 1920, στέγαζε τα πορνεία της πόλης. Aργότερα ξεκίνησε η
λειτουργία της λαχαναγοράς- εξ ου και η ονομασία της- ενώ σήμερα έχει μεταμορ-
φωθεί σε hot food και nightlife πιάτσα με αξιόλογα μαγαζιά, μεζεδοπωλεία, cafe-
bars, που συγκεντρώνουν πλήθος ντόπιων και επισκεπτών.
Trikala town has a lot of hidden surprises in every neighbourhood, like
the famous Manavika, one of the oldest districts in the town. Situated
between Varousi and the main square, it exudes a special aura thanks to its
many old listed buildings with the characteristic traditional architecture.
In the past, about in 1920, the district used to house the brothels of the
town. Later, about in 1920, opened the vegetable market, hence the name
(“manavika” means “greengrocer”). Today. This district has been trans-
formed into a hot hangout for food and nightlife with interesting shops,
meze restaurants and cafe-bars attracting a lot of locals and visitors.
