SAKAFLIAS ALLEYS (OLD TOWN)
The Old Town consists of Varousi and
Palia Manavika districts, it is located on
the fringes of the Fortress and, in the past,
it used to be an aristocratic part of Trikala.
This picturesque area features the most
and the older churches and the beautiful
mansions that reflect the financial and
cultural development of the 18th and
the 19th centuries. Here you will also find
beautiful taverns and cafe-bars. The alleys
of this neighbourhood became popular
by the song of Greek musician Tsitsanis
about the notorious Sakaflias.

(ΠΑΛΙΆ ΠΌΛΗ)
Η παλιά πόλη αποτελείται από τις συνοικίες
Βαρούσι και παλιά Μανάβικα, βρίσκεται
στις παρυφές του κάστρου και κατά το πα-
ρελθόν υπήρξε αριστοκρατική γωνιά των
Τρικάλων. Η γραφική αυτή περιοχή συγκε-
ντρώνει τις περισσότερες και παλαιότερες
εκκλησίες και όμορφα αρχοντικά που
αντικατοπτρίζουν την οικονομική και πολι-
τιστική άνθιση του 18ου και 19ου αιώνα.
Εδώ θα βρείτε επίσης και όμορφα ταβερ-
νάκια και cafe-bars. Τα στενά της γειτονιάς
αυτής έγιναν γνωστά από το τραγούδι του
Τσιτσάνη για τον διαβόητο Σακαφλιά.
