ΤΖΑΜΊ ΟΣΜΆΝ ΣΑΧ
Το επιβλητικό τέμενος του Οσμάν Σαχ ή Κουρσούμ τζαμί (μολυβένιο τζαμί), τραβάει το
βλέμμα του επισκέπτη στην άκρη της πόλης. Χτίστηκε στα μέσα του 16ου αιώνα από τον
ονομαστό αρχιτέκτονα Σινάν Πασά και είναι το μοναδικό σωζόμενο από τα πολλά τζα-
μιά που είχε κάποτε η πόλη. Σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, ο πρίγκιπας Οσμάν Σαχ, γιος
του σουλτάνου Σουλεϊμάν έχτισε το τζαμί όταν θεραπεύτηκε στα Τρίκαλα από την αρ-
ρώστια που τον ταλαιπωρούσε. Σήμερα, είναι προστατευόμενο μνημείο της UNESCO
και χρησιμοποιείται ως χώρος εκδηλώσεων ήπιου χαρακτήρα (εκθέσεις, ομιλίες κλπ.).
OSMAN SHAH MOSQUE
The impressive Osman Shah Mosque or Kursum Mosque (which means “lead mosque” in
Turkish), attracts the visitor’s eyes in the end of the town. It was built in the middle 16th
century by the famous architect Sinan Pasha and out of all the many mosques that the
town used to have, this is the only one preserved. According to the tradition, prince Os-
man Shah, son of Sultan Suleiman, built the mosque when he was healed from his ailing
illness in Trikala. Today, it is a listed monument protected by UNESCO and is used for the
organisation of moderate events (exhibitions, lectures, etc.).
