ACTIVITIES AND ESCAPES
At a distance of only 8 km you can find the climbing park of Taigetos, a magnet
for climbing lovers. The place is ideal for explorations, a fact that attracts a huge
number of alternative tourism visitors. From this area start many signaled routes,
parts of the European E4 route (that begins from the Pyrenees of Spain and ends
in Crete), ideal for mountain cycling and trekking. The visitor has the chance to
enjoy the verdant vegetation and to cross the edges of Taigetos, a mountain full
of myths and folk traditions. From this point begin even more signaled routes. One
of them leads to Perganteika (1 hour and 30 minutes) and another one leads to
the Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni (2 hours) and then to Anavriti (about
30 minutes). For history lovers, a visit to Mystras, in order to admire a unique set
of Frank, Byzantine, and Ottoman monuments, a visit to ancient Sparta, to the
Archeological Museum and to many more important sights of the broader area,
will travel you to the magic of the past.
