Kavala’s well “hidden” secret is a sweet temptation known to the entire Greece, the qurabiyas of Nea Karvali. The reputation following this sugar-sprinkled delicacy is not accidental. Descending from Kap- padokia, the globetrotting recipe was brought to Kavala by refu- gees. Apart from these all-white viands, at the shelves of traditional product stores you will also find a wealth of spoon desserts, such as fig and walnut. Desserts prepared at the time of each fruit’s ripening, with recipes that pass from one generation to the next. Kavala, one of the largest fishing centers in Greece, couldn’t miss offering fresh fish and seafood. The picturesque fish taverns of the area offer dishes made by local Macedonian recipes.
