ΠΛΑΤΕΊΑ ΚΟΡΑΉ
Γνωστή και ως πλατεία Δημοτικού Θεάτρου -καθώς εδώ βρίσκεται και το εμβληματικό κτίριο-
αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς του Πειραιά και εκεί που χτυπάει ο αστικός παλμός. Αν και δεν
ξεχωρίζει για την ομορφιά ή τη γραφικότητά της, αποτελεί την πιο κεντρική πλατεία του Πει-
ραιά, που εκτείνεται από τη μια πλευρά μέχρι το λιμάνι και από την άλλη μέχρι τη Μαρίνα Ζέας.
Εδώ δεσπόζει και το Δημαρχείο, ενώ η πλατεία και οι γύρω δρόμοι είναι γεμάτοι με εμπορικά
καταστήματα και καφέ, αλλά και ωραία μεζεδοπωλεία, εστιατόρια και ό,τι άλλο μπορεί να
αναζητήσετε. Εδώ θα δείτε επίσης την προτομή του Αδαμάντιου Κοραή, ενώ στο απέναντι
πεζοδρόμιο ξεχωρίζει το έφιππο άγαλμα του Κολοκοτρώνη. Πίσω από την πλατεία δεσπόζει
η εκκλησία Αγίων Κωνσταντίνου & Ελένης. Απέναντι θα δείτε μια ακόμα «πράσινη» πλατεία,
όπου ξεχωρίζει το άγαλμα του Ελευθέριου Βενιζέλου.
KORAI SQUARE
Also known as the Square of the Municipal Theate, as this is where the iconic building
is situated, it is a landmark in Piraeus and the spot where the heart of the town beats.
Although it doesn’t stand out for its special beauty or quaintness, it is the most central
square of the town, sprawling from the one side to the Port and from the other side to
Zea Marina. Here is where the Town Hall stands, while the square and the surrounding
streets are full of shops, cafes, and nice meze restaurants, restaurants and anything you
may want. Here, you will also find the bust of Adamandios Korais, while at the opposite
walkway stands out the mounted statue of Kolokotronis.Behind the square there is the
church of St. Konstantinos and Eleni. Just across the street, you will find a “green” square,
with the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos standing out.
