The Piraeus Municipal Theatre is a monument of the town, which opened in April 9 in 1895. it was built by Ioannis Lazarimos, who due to his studies in Paris, had a different point of view . The Municipal Theatre played a major role in the development of the area. The building suffered a lot during the Balkan wars, the ethnic division and the World War I, as it was used as a military camp and a school, while it also hosted a lot of immigrants in 1919-1922. Today, it hosts a plethora of theatrical performances and musical events. 63
