ΠΕΙΡΑΪΚΌ ΑΡΧΑΙΟΛΟΓΙΚΌ ΜΟΥΣΕΊΟ
Στεγάζεται σε ένα σύγχρονο κτίριο στην
οδό Χαρ.Τρικούπη μεταξύ Τερψιθέας
και Πασαλιμανιού, που κατασκευάστηκε
το 1966 και εγκαινιάστηκε το 1981. Τα
εκθέματα που κυρίως προέρχονται από
ανασκαφές, παραδόσεις αρχαιοτήτων και
δωρεές συλλόγων, εκτίθενται σε 10 αί-
θουσες και αναπτύσσονται σε θεματικές
ενότητες κατά χρονολογική σειρά. Στα
υπόγεια υπάρχουν εργαστήρια συντήρη-
σης και αποθήκες φύλαξης. Ιδιαίτερα ση-
μαντικά είναι τα εκθέματα του 5ου και του
4ου αιώνα π.Χ., κυρίως όσα σχετίζονται
με την παράλληλη πορεία της Αθήνας και
του Πειραιά και εκείνα που αναφέρονται
στην ιδιωτική ζωή των κατοίκων. Μερικά
από τα εκθέματα είναι ιδιαίτερα σπάνια,
όπως τα περίφημα χάλκινα αγάλματα (του
Απόλλωνα του 6ου αι. π.Χ. και της Αθη-
νάς και Αρτέμιδος του 4ου αι. π.Χ.) κ.ά.
PIRAEUS ARCHAELOGICAL MUSEUM
It is housed in a modern building on Char.
Trikoupi square between Terpsithea and
Pasalimani that was built in 1966 and
opened in 1981. The objects come mainly
from excavations, delivery of antiquities
and donations by associations, they are
exhibited in 10 rooms and developed
in thematic units according on order
of date. In the basements, there are
restoration workshops and warehouses.
Particularly important are the exhibits
from the 5th and the 4th century B.C.,
particularly those related to the parallel
development of Athens and Piraeus and,
especially, those related to the private
life of the locals. Some of the exhibits
are particularly rare, like the prominent
copepr statues (of Apollo from the 6th
century and Athena and Artemis from the
4th century B.C.) etc.
