ΙΕΡΌΣ ΝΑΌΣ ΠΑΝΤΆΝΑΣΣΗΣ
Ο Ι.Ν. της Παναγίας Παντανάσσης βρίσκεται στο κέντρο της πόλης, στην οδό Υψηλά-
ντου και πρόκειται για έναν πολύ επιβλητικό και ιστορικό ναό. Είναι χτισμένος πάνω σε
ένα φυσικό ύψωμα και είναι διατηρητέο μνημείο, υπόδειγμα της νεότερης εκκλησια-
στικής αρχιτεκτονικής. Θαυμασμό προκαλεί τόσο το ευρύχωρο προαύλιο, οι μεγάλες
μαρμάρινες σκάλες με τον πρόναο, οι τρεις ξύλινες πόρτες εισόδου με τις εικονογραφη-
μένες παραστάσεις όσο και το υπέροχο εσωτερικό του. Η πολύτιμη εικόνα της Παναγίας
Παντανάσσης είναι επενδυμένη με χρυσάφι και ασήμι και σύμφωνα με την παράδοση,
βρέθηκε σε κρύπτη κάτω από τον σημερινό ναό και προερχόταν από τον Μυστρά. Ο
εορτασμός του ναού είναι λαμπρός και ιδιαίτερα σημαντικός για τους ντόπιους και διαρ-
κεί 3 ημέρες. Οι εορτασμοί ξεκινούν κάθε 7η Σεπτεμβρίου, παραμονή της γιορτής.
HOLY TEMPLE OF PANTANASSA The Holy Temple of Pantanassa is located in the
centre of the town on Ipsilantou street and is a very majestic and historical temple. It is
built on a natural hill and is a listed monument and an example of the newest ecclesiastical
architecture. You will be impressed both by the large courtyard, the big marble stars
with the porch, the three wooden gates with the illustratιons and the marvellous inside
of the temple. The precious icon of Panaghia Pantanassa is gold and silver plated and
according to the tradition it was found inside a crypt under the current temple and came
from Mystras. The celebration of the temple is glorious and of major
importance for the locals and lasts 3 days. The celebrations start on
September 7th, the day before the feast of the temple.
