MYCENAE
The kingdom of mythical Agamemnon is only
20 minutes (22 km) from Nafplio. It is defi-
nitely a must-visit for those who visit Nafplio,
as it is one of the most important archaeo-
logical sights in Freece. It is the greatest and
richest palatial centre of the Late Bronze
Age in Greece and one of the most popular
archaeological sites that has been included
in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Land-
scapes and Monuments. Here you can admire
the tomb of Agamemnon (Royal tombs), the
Lion Gate and the Cyclopean walls, and you
will also have the chance to see the astonish-
ing Treasure of Atreus. As you approach the
exit of the archaeological site, make a stop
at the Archaeological Museum of Mycenae,
which hosts a very interesting timeline of the
excavations as well as mock-ups of how the
ancient city looked like.
