Τhe fact that “Nafplion Festival” has
been organised successfully for 28 years
does credit to the efforts made by the
Municipality of Nafplio to keep the
institution alive. It has been awarded by
the association of Music Critics of Greece
and takes place in one of the most
majestic parts of the town, Vouleftiko,
which was the first Parliament of the
Greek state, on Aghios Spiridonas square.
It is an internationally renowned festival,
which has hosted significant artists of
the area of classical music from all over
Europe. If he make a review on the history
of the Festival, we will find out that it
has hosted more than 250 artists, 24
quartets, 18 symphonic and chamber
orchestras and young artists, having
attracted about 190,000 visitors!

CHIOTIS PRONIA FESTIVAL
Το «Φεστιβάλ Πρόνοιας- Μανώλη
Χιώτη», ξεκίνησε το 2014 ως ένα
αφιέρωμα στην ιστορική γειτονιά του
Ναυπλίου, Πρόνοια, στους πρόπο-
δες του Παλαμηδίου και παράλληλα
στον σπουδαίο λαϊκό μουσικοσυν-
θέτη και δεξιοτέχνη του μπουζου-
κιού, Μανώλη Χιώτη. Η επιτυχία
μετέτρεψε το εν λόγω φεστιβάλ σε
ετήσιο, το οποίο πραγματοποιείται
κάθε καλοκαίρι εδώ και έξι χρόνια
στην Πλατεία Εθνοσυνελεύσεως της
Πρόνοιας. Καλλιτέχνες, ερμηνεύ-
ουν τραγούδια που έχουν αφήσει
εποχή, ενώ οι ήχοι του μπουζουκιού
παίζουν έναν πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο
στο όλο σκηνικό. Στόχος του Δήμου
Ναυπλίου που το διοργανώνει, είναι
η συμβολή του φεστιβάλ στην μου-
σική παιδεία του τόπου και την τοπική
πολιτιστική κουλτούρα.
Manolis Chiotis Pronia Festival
started in 2014 as a tribute to the
historical district of Nafplio, Pronia,
located in the foothills of Palamidi,
and also to Manolis Chiotis, the
great folklore musician and top
bouzouki player. The success
made this festival an annual event,
realised every summer for the last
six years on Ethnosynelefsis square
in Pronia. Artists sing memorable
songs, while the sounds of
bouzouki play a major role in the
whole setting. The purpose of the
Municipality of Nafplio organising
the festival is the contribution to the
music education of this place and
the local ethos of Nafplio.
