ΠΛΑΤΕΊΑ ΣΥΝΤΆΓΜΑΤΟΣ
Η πλατεία Συντάγματος στην καρδιά του Ναυπλίου, είναι φτιαγμένη κατά τα
µεσαιωνικά πρότυπα και εντυπωσιάζει. Γνωστή επίσης και ως «Πλατεία Πλατάνου»,
έγινε «Πλατεία Λουδοβίκου» (προς τιµήν του πατέρα του Όθωνα) έως το 1843, που
πήρε το σηµερινό της όνοµα όταν οι Έλληνες ζήτησαν από τον νεαρό βασιλιά την
παραχώρηση Συντάγµατος. Κάποτε, εδώ στη σκιά ενός πλατάνου, οι οπλαρχηγοί
κατάστρωναν τα επαναστατικά σχέδιά τους κατά των Τούρκων. Σήμερα ακούγονται
οι φωνές των ντόπιων και των επισκεπτών που βολτάρουν, απολαμβάνουν τις
ηλιόλουστες μέρες και χαλαρώνουν στα κομψά καφέ με θέα τα εντυπωσιακά κτήρια
τριγύρω... Από τη μια το θολωτό Βουλευτήριο (όπου στεγαζόταν η πρώτη Βουλή
των Ελλήνων), το Τριανόν (παλαιό τζαµί), η Εκκλησία του Αγ. Γεωργίου και το Αρχαι-
ολογικό Μουσείο με τις χαρακτηριστικές καμάρες!
SYNTAGMA SQUARE
Syntagma square in the heart of Nafplio is constructed in line with the medieval stand-
ards and is very impressive. Also known as “Platanos square”, it was named “Square
of Louis” (to honour Otto’s father) until it was got its current name in 1843, when
the Greeks asked from the young king to establish a Constitution (which means “Syn-
tagma” in Greek). In the past, in the shade of a plane tree, the warlords hatched their
revolutionary plans against the Turks. Today, the square fills with the voices of locals
and visitors who make a walk, enjoy the sunny days and relax in the elegant cafes with
a view of the impressive surrounding buildings... The arched Ministerial house on the
one side (where the first Greek Parliament was housed), Trienon (the old mosque), the
Temple of St. George and the Archaeological Museum with the characteristic arches
are some of the most majestic structures!
